MDJunction to me

MissNikkiAnn"When you have an illness with the name "Non-Familial Dysautonomia" (a name that most people, and even doctors, have never heard of), you need a network
of people who understand the name and the symptoms/issues that come with it.
MDJunction led me to that network of people during a very confusing and sickly time. For this I am thankful. And for this reason I try my best to give back to other members the same care and help that I received through MDJunction.

my 5 yr old is currently taking abx for Lyme. She has appt with ped. llmd in two weeks

a different doc put her on abx, but when test results came back with only three bands he told me to take her off them. I decided to keep her and my 7yr old on the meds.

My 5 yr old keeps complaining of tummy aches. It could be from the abx, or maybe the Pro-biotic I am giving her. But, it makes me nervous.

Lymes is so scary, especially when it is our babies it's hurting Sad Should I try to lemon water as a detox? I dont know what to do to help her

Please, someone tell me tummy aches are normal with what she is going through!!! Any advice would be greta

It could be the abx - what probiotic are you giving her? Will she eat yogurt? How are you giving her the abx - with/out food?

It could be many factors...

How has her symptoms presented? Did she have ANY gut issues - or issues that can tie back to the guts before you started treatment...

yea doxycycline is known for tummy pain....it could be so many things but I would guess that it probably is the abx. You should give it to her with food certainly....

Most definitely do everything you can to help her with detox like the lemon water and warm salt baths etc...

With Him we "live" no matter the circumstances. At His feet peace of mind can be found. Peace that passes all understanding is my quest now and forever.

She is getting her Amoxicillin with food three times a day. I give them Acidophilus with pro-biotic every day. I try to get them each to eat one pro-biotic yogurt every day, but they are kind of turned off from them even though they usually love yogurt.

My 5 yr olds symptoms started after a fever two months ago. Some stiffness in neck, but mostly very tired and occasional tummy aches. The tummy problem has increased since I started her on abx.

I picked up some lemons today so I will try lemon water. Will that really help? Can I give her Gas X?

I freeze the yogurt into push pops. My 3 yr old grand daughter loves them.

Is she exhibiting loose bowels?

I might back off the ABX a little and see if it helps.

Amox is one of the gentler ABX.

I used Probiotic straws made by BioGaia with my son.

Recommended by the pharmacy with the first prescription of long term anti biotics for PANDAS. Contains lactobacillus reuteri 100million CFU.

"The probiotic is suspended in an oil droplet inside the straw. Simply sip 2-4 oz of fluid through the straw to release the probiotic."

Even though he is no longer on long-term antibiotics except during signs of a relapse, I still give him one occasionally.

Thanks ladies! I buy a pro-biotic capsule from the health food store, open it up and pore half into a tsp of applesauce. They both like it like that. They are two weeks in with the abx.... two more to go. No loose bm's... both are still pretty normal.

Maybe at night with their third dose I can cut it in half. I have a feeling though that it's just the Lyme causing her the trouble Sad
