So I was prescribed Vitamin D emulsion by my naturopath for a supplement and took it diligently for over a year....come to find out that my Vitamin D hydroxy is normal BUT my Vitamin d 1 25 dihydroxy is extremely high, 120. Have a ruined my progress with taking Vitamin d? I see a naturopath who has been studying lyme (she has it herself) and an LLMD (who recommends little supplements except for B12, probiotics).

Anybody else?

Thanks! The good news is that I haven't felt this good in 2 years and I am feeling better than everSmile

I'm not a doctor, and I don't know the ins and outs of Vit D yet, but my best guess is that you will be fine.

For one thing, you said you are feeling good.

Many Lyme patients have low Vitamin D levels, which in turn contribute to low calcium levels which can impair the immune system. You successfully minimized this problem.

Also, any blood sample is only a snapshot of what is going on in our bodies at that moment.

I'm half joking, but maybe it was an extra sunny day that day?

If I recall correctly I think it's in Dr. Burrascano's guidelines that 10 minutes a day in the sun (if you can do it without burning) is sufficient to provide enough Vitamin D.

When my mother-in-law was in the hospital, they would take blood, say her potassium was low, pump her full of potassium, take blood again, and then say it was too high. Then repeat! Drove me crazy!!!

Also, to a certain degree, people are different. When my blood pressure is 110/70 it is considered normal, but I don't feel good when it is that low.

Years ago, my cortisol level was normal, but I had many of the signs of high cortisol. When the signs went away, my cortisol level dropped, and I felt better.

I would adjust your Vitamin D levels as directed by your medical providers, but if you start swinging back towards not feeling good, I would ask them to retest.
