MDJunction to me

aTinaL"To me, Mdjunction comes down to motivation. The support and information I have found here motivated me to take a very proactive stance regarding my illness. This led me to find medication and doctors that are giving me my life back.
More important than even the motivation, though, is the friendship I have found at MDJ. I have made some of the best friends of my entire life right here in this group. Even though most of us have never met, it feels as if we have known each other for years.
If Angels walk among us, and I believe that they do, most of them are here at MDJ.

I'm having a hard time typing this because this morning I woke up with my left hand numb. I thought maybe I slept on it the wrong way. I had terrible left elbow pain. It never went away. It is now 6 at night and my left hand fingers are still numb. Could this be a herx reaction and my symptoms getting worse? I never had this symptom before and I'm really scared. I can't feel anything. HELP!!!

Wolfpack,

Me too,was really bad a few months ago my hands were numb well hard to describe they would burn and be numb at the same time.I could not use them much, they kinda looked like claws insidious stuff isn't it? I was going to go to the hardware store and buy a lever for a door entry and get rid of the knob as i could not turn the darn thing.Slowly it diminished but its not gone yet, i would call it a herx ..yes because if i increase my supps it also increases the symptoms(hands)

My forearms and hands are my main issue. If i take a white LED light and shine it on my hurting area its blood red with inflammation. I think your herxing and the neurotoxins were released.its hard to find the right dose to have mild instead of major herxs.I could be wrong maybe just living with Lyme is like that but since its new to you and i also experience it after higher doses i am going to suggest a herx. Smile

Wolfpack: Forgot to ask can you close your hands? Joints OK? Mine were numb but my joints were involved also they would creak when i tried to make a fist a wierd sound like someone squeezing cellophane would come from my joints. At that point i started the sea salt and C ,The reaction was incredible my hands were working within 1 hr.I kept up the salt and C until i felt i was in the clear. Then i quit.My joints are perfect now just burning numbness..i call it neuropathy.Hope that helps. Smile

I'm an Advocate

Hey Wolfpack,

Sorry you are feeling so bad. I was having almost the same issue with my back last night, tho as Buckron said, the weird thing is it felt numb and cold to me from my mind, but when I physically touched it with my hands, it was putting out a ton of heat. My wrists have been killing me lately, as well as my right elbow. I'm betting in another day or 2, my right arm will be mostly numb. I'm working on a deadline for a column, and I've been doing a LOT of writing in the last few days. When I get numbness, I usually feel a coldness, too. But I also have some creaking, too, like Buckron said. IDK if it's a Herx, but it could be. I know that I'm taking Samento and Lauricidin and have been feeling that a Herx has been imminent, creeping up on me really slowly. I've been trying to push it off, but so far have been unsuccessful. I think that perhaps taking teh OLE is helping, IDK...

I do hope you get to feeling better soon. *hugs*

Jen

Just because it's impossible doesn't mean it can't happen.

I'm not a doc, so anything I say is my opinion only. Nothing I say is meant as offense, I offer what I can as help. I believe in educating myself on all my medical issues and being my own advocate, for no one else with do that on my behalf. I recommend we all do the same!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.

Wolfpack,

What you're experiencing is most likely neuropathy. Unfortunately, it's very common with lyme. It doesn't have any connection to herxing that I'm aware of, so I can't speak about that.

I should say, though, that treatment with abx can cause your pre-treatment symptoms to reappear so if you had this problem before treatment, you are seemingly more likely to have it happen after treatment.

Your description is exactly what happens in neuropathy. It basically can happen with any of your extremities and can last varying amounts of time. I tend to have parts of my fingers go numb but everybody's different.

The back thing seems to be neuropathy too, fluffy, I've experienced that with the area up by my shoulder blades. It's really annoying!!!

Hope everybody feels better soon!

I had the same thing when I first got lyme. My hands and feet would go numb and tingle, then the bee sting feeling, it lasted about 2 months. I also had to put my hair up as it hurt to touch my skin. I remember for the 1st week I had to lay on the couch with nothing on as anything that touched my skin HURT and burned my skin, it was awful...

It did go away after a few weeks. I still get mild burning on my upper body at times when I'm stressed out. Lyrica worked for all of it,but the side effects from the lyrica was awful, but worth it..

Oh ya, I forgot about the lips, and my chin...It was a very strange feeling...And the bee sting feeling, it was just awful. I applied cold to the areas and that did seem to help for a while..

Interesting. Before I was diagnosed I had this, in my arms and hands, just as you all describe it. I would wake up with it and for a while I thought it was from sleeping in funny positions, but then it wouldn't go away, would last for weeks. Now I have something similar in my knee. It feels numb, yet cold, yet hot, lol...so weird.

You know, I think sometimes I blame every little twinge on Lyme...but now I'm realizing most of the unusual symptoms I've had the last few years are Lyme-related. It's annoying, yet kind of reassuring at the same time to know I'm not nuts, lol.

I think everyone tends to blame everything on lyme, nature of the beast. I did in the beginning also, but then I realized I did have other things going on...Its just human to think the way we do...

you are not nuts... Oh, sorry yes we are according to the doctors...lol
