hi there,

doxy ... i'd call your llmd; perhaps you can cut down the size of dosage to part of a pill so you can get it down and keep it down.

otherwise, llmd may suggest another abx for you to replace that one with.

doxy and herx; everyone of us is different; no time limit! mine was immediate and stayed with me daily for 20 months of abx!

doxy side effects:

you need dark sunglasses to wear outside; look in tips, etc. for a post from me with lots of tips ... expecially about ....

dog gone it, the lyme made me forget the name of these special, REASONABLY PRICED no infrared, UV, sunglasses! i'd be lost without mine.

when driving; wear LONG SLEEVES, LONG PANTS, and driving gloves as well as a hat covering your face as much as possible for severe sunburns due to doxy! good luck..

I,m new here but took the Doxy last summer. It is a hard drug to take and keep down. I found if I would sit in a chair and close my eyes and try to fall asleep I had a better chance of keeping it down. Do not lie down because it will tend to cause severe burning in the chest. Also do not eat or drink any dairy products after taking the doxy because it will make you sick to your stomach.

Also, my pharmacist told me if I could keep it down for 30 minutes with out it coming backup the drug would already be in my system.

I hated taking it due to all the side affects. I was on the Doxycycline 100 MG for 3 weeks and have been symptom free ever since. Hang in there, you will get well.

Nancy

Thanks for everyones advice! I managed to get 3 doses of Doxy to stay down in a row. Now I've started having problems talking, mixing up words; pressure in my head, emotional, and pain in all my joints! Is this possible a herx reaction!

Hi:

Yes DOxy is a very hard drug to take. I am one that can't take it whatsoever. The pain in the joints is a reaction, I would call the doctor and have them switch it. Some will say its a Hex, and it might be, but I also had joint pain which put me in the hospital from Doxy, please call the doctor and inform him. (that was 6 years ago for another reason not lyme)

There are other drugs for lyme...

Best of luck

Julie

I agree with Julie, I would call your doctor asap. It could be a herx, and the messing up of words etc, could be spirocete die off in the brain, but I wouldn't risk it. Some people can and do have bad reactions to some of the meds. The good news is that there are several others to take. Some really like biaxin/amoxi combo I had a good time with biaxin/omnicef
Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

I just took my first dose of doxy and also threw up about 20 minutes after I took it. My pharmasist told me to take it on an empty stomach.

I feel horrible, weak, this is awful.
