Does anyone know about how long a LLMD perscribes Doxcy and other abx's at one time to treat Lyme disease? I'v been on Doxcy and Biaxin for 3mos straite. Diflucan for 2mos.

Aren't you supposed to take them a few months and then start again after a few months? Or how does that go?

It depends on the doctor and your response.

Most of the time you stay on them until you stop improving.

Then move to a new one

I agree....if your still improving on the current treatment, then stay on it..

But if you plateau, then you need to change it up.

Are you pulsing in a cyst buster like Tindamax? If not I would consider doing that...

Tennesseemom this is to you........what is a cyst buster? I haven't heard of that yet. My LLMD lets me do the talking and whatever I ask for he perscribes me. I hate that. He's getting paid to answer my questions and perscribe me with meds that he knows will work. But he just does what I say. (WEIRD!) I took Doxcy for 3mos+ with Biaxin. Then I couldnt take the headaches from Doxcy so I am now just on Biaxin. Do I need a cyst buster? Maybe cysts are whats causing all my pain.

santinagirl..perhaps you can ask him what he suggests for you? I'm with you that would bother me if i had to come up with the ideas. i do like if a doctor takes my input but i need someone who knows what it is best to try-espeically with lyme since it is such a tough one..

Wow, maybe it is time to find a new LLMD...This one doesn't sound very Lyme Literate, but at least he is prescribing you what you need...That is more than most docs will do.

Here is a link for you to see the 3 forms of the bacteria including the cyst.

I am NOT promoting the book, just came across this and thought they were great pics of the bacteria....
