A couple of times yesterday and then today, just a few minutes ago, I have had heart palpitations which left

me feeling short of breath afterwards. Is this a normal Lyme symptom or more specifically a sign / symptom

of a herx? I just began my Flagyl treatment on Monday so this is about the 4th day of it.

I've noticed a bit more twitching of my legs and feet as well while I am sitting at my desk. Also having some pains in my right thigh.

The palpitations are what are my main "concern" right now though!

Thanks for any input!

Both, but since you just started flagyl, it's probably a herx ...

I had palpitations last year; started using hawthorn berry daily and it went away and hasn't been back. Sometimes, when I first started babs treatment, I would feel my heart beating in my gums. Ig...

LLMD saw no reason for alarm, supposing it's a normal reaction...

Be prepared for all kinds of crazy things coming and going. It's typical, esp. when you switch meds.

Kim,

I never herxed on Flagyl. I never actually really herx unless I change meds, and it ALWAYS happen on the 3rd or 4th day. It's weird. And when I say "herx", I mean palpatations, and fluttering (of which I never want to feel again).

My PCP had me lower the dosage when this happened the first time. Then I decided to experiment myself to see if it was just me or the ABX, and went back to my normal dosage a few days later. Sure enough, the 4th day it happened again.

If it gets to be a huge problem, I'd back off a bit or see what your doctor has to say about it.

In my case it's gotta be Herx.

My palpitation only started after I started intensive herbal protocol. I have to be careful not to take the most powerful herbs too close to my bed time because I just won't fall asleep!

Heh, yep! To the point where no surprises would be a surprise! lol

I've read that flagyl also targets some strains of babesia.

With my experience, it knocked out quite a few bartonella symptoms, too. So, I'm just waiting for someone to find out for sure that it gets at least one strain of bartonella or a bartonella-like organism, because it makes me curious...

Symptoms you describe could be from either babs, Lyme, or a BLO, but in any case, it's working on you!

Anyway, hope you're feeling a bit better today Smile

Hey zoemajik what bart symptoms were you able to knock out and how long did it take? I've never taken this med. My foot pain is DEBILITATING...I can't get up without quickly grabbing something and moving like a cat stalking its prey..

It killed the leg/foot and forearm/palm pains - the shooting ones, aching ones, crampy ones ... made me less sensitive to light and touch, less panic and rage, lymph nodes returned to normal size, head lumps went away, less anxiety and agitation ... and hardly had any shooting pains.

I was really starting to feel better on it.

The foot pain was one of the first symptoms that went away on it... it was wonderful.

<sigh>
