Myself and all 3 kids are taking 250mg of lariam once a week to treat babs right now.

We all have a very mild case of hives in the chest/underarm and groin area. Very mild...4-6 individual itchy little buggers.

I'm wondering if the location has anything to do with lymph system? Maybe sweat glands.

Also, hives are listed as an allergic "seek medical attention" reaction. Do you think that counts if the hives are so minimal? We are fine otherwise.

If I heeded all those warnings while treating this crap, we'd have never been able to take anything...lol.

Thanks for any input.

Be WARY of Lariam. It can affect you tremendously emotionally. It also can make your blood pressure rise. I took for a few months and then had to back off it for a month. I had to start it back up again, but I did it under duress. That is, I experienced major rage and major depression even suicidal thoughts here and there. Read the article about Ft Bragg military base. Not a pretty story.

Please watch yourself closely and have you family and friends watch you too. Tell them, to watch for signs.

Good luck. One powerful drug--it affects you psychologically. Although each person is different, but you should know the adverse effects as well as the benefits.

I did read that article before starting...crazy stuff!

We are doing really well so far...nothing but some nausea the day it is taken (only once a week) and a little bit of fatigue here and there, but so far so good.

Time for the bloodwork to see if its working!! I'll let you guys know!

Wink I truly believe it helped me. When I started I only took it once a week, then increased it as the months went on. I noticed, as welll as my family and friends, the longer I was on it the more it affected my moods. So, my caution to you, is just keep an eye on you and your family. The last month I was on it was the worst because I was taking it every other day.

Good luck, I hope you have the same success as I.
