"Lyme Awareness" (karazon)

MDJunction to me

"All I can say is that this has been the best place ever. It has been six to seven months since I joined, and I have learned so much. I now believe in myself and accept myself on a completely different level. The people on MDJunction has been so supportive and accepting that I have been able to adopt it into my personal life. That has reduced a lot of stress in my life. Thanks to all." (bunnyfly)

Just got these in the mail:

2 reactive bands Blood Lyme 23 kD IgG and Blood Lyme 41 kD IgG, Positive Blood Lyme Ab IgM, and Blood Lyme 23 kD IgM reactive and Blood Lyme 41 kD IgM reactive. Also for anaplasma phagocytophilum IgG <1;64 and IgM <1:20.

My daughter was first diagnosed in July by family dr. and these tests were done in Aug. by an Infectious Disease Spec. who stated in the letter with the tests that he questions the diagnosis of Lyme. He did not believe she ever had Lyme. He is not Lyme Literate in my opinion. She must have had Lyme, and it also seems she had Ehrlichiosis. He also states that "half the US population without Lyme disease is reactive at the 41KD IgG band"

She was given ammoxicillin for 1 month and doxycycline for one month. She does seem fine so far. Her last dose was on Thurs. It is now 5 days later. I hope we are done with Lyme, but have read enough books to wonder about a relapse.

She still complains of slight headache, some back and knee pain. Her energy is back to normal (imagine non stop chatter that we haven't heard for 2 months). If anyone can help, I would be grateful.

Thanks,

Colleen

23 is not a crucial band in determining active Lyme or not according to IGeneX lab in CA. However 41 IS. IGeneX says you have to have to reactive ** bands to be considered positive. In addition to 41, did any other bands come back positive. Do you have the breakdown. If not, INSIST that your doctor give it to you. You need to see the band breakdown for yourself and make sure it was actually done properly. Was the blood tested by IGeneX labs in CA. They're on of the only Lyme Literate labs in the country. If your daughter still has symptoms, catch it now! Don't wait 15 years and get late stage, chronic Lyme like I did! Have IGeneX test the blood. Any Dr. can call they're 800# (it's online at www.igenex.com) and get a kit to send the blood same in. You said you suspected coinfection too. Regular antibiotics usually don't get rid of those in and of themselves. You should get a Western Blot, IGG AND IGM and a 5090 coinfection panel done ASAP. They take some insurance, but you might have to pay alot out of pocket if they don't take yours, but it's worth your life (or your daughter's in this case.)

Get check to be on the safe side, again, especially if she still has symptoms which she does. Weigh on the side of caution with this disease. It's a monster!
