Why can't I print the article about treating Lyme with Diflucan to take to my doctor? My doc is very open-minded & everytime I ask her to put me on Diflucan because I have to take tons of antibiotics & also have fungus problems, for numerous health problems, I feel so much better. Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure which article you mean. Do you mean you're not supposed to print it or you physically can't print it? I can see where it would help with all of the problems antibiotics cause us.

I'm an Advocate

I would certainly think we should be able to print it. I suppose what we don't know won't hurt us? IDK...LOL. I'm not saying that to get anyone (least of all ME!) in trouble, but we certainly should be able to print stuff off here. What else is this forum for, eh? I can only guess you are having trouble physically printing it! Is there a problem with your printer? What can we help you with? If you can be more specific, I think we can help! Smile

Just because it's impossible doesn't mean it can't happen.

I'm not a doc, so anything I say is my opinion only. Nothing I say is meant as offense, I offer what I can as help. I believe in educating myself on all my medical issues and being my own advocate, for no one else with do that on my behalf. I recommend we all do the same!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.

Something has changed within me/Something is not the same/I'm through with playing by/The rules of someone else's game/Too late for second-guessing/Too late to go back to sleep/It's time to trust my instincts/Close my eyes and leap...I'm through accepting limits/Cuz someone says they're so/Some things I can not change/But till I try I'll never know/Too long I've been afraid of/Losing love I guess I lost/Well if that's love/It comes at much too high a cost/I'd sooner buy Defying Gravity/Kiss me good-bye I'm Defying Gravity/I think I'll try Defying Gravity/And you won't bring me down...

I'm going to assume that it's Dr. Fritz Schardt's controversial study being referenced.

[I finally found the complete article, not just the abstract. If anyone wants it it's here:]

http://tinyurl.com/5yarw6

Eleven patients with neuro-borreliosis had been treated with 200 mg fluconazole daily for 25 days after an unsuccessful therapy with antibiotics.

Eleven patients is quite a small study.

What does he consider 'unsuccessful therapy' with antibiotics? (Very important!)

Did he test for tick co-infections? Some of the symptoms overlap.

At the end of treatment eight patients had no borreliosis symptoms and remained free of relapse in a follow-up examination one year later.

I had a wonderful remission that lasted for almost two years after being treated with only antibiotics.

Since I'm always seronegative, a test wouldn't have proven anything. Not even by IGeneX or MDL.

Dr Schardt did follow up tests (he did not make it clear which lab did the tests---- that's a problem for me.)

Before and one week after completion of therapy,

blood samples were taken for serologic examination

(ELISA: anti-Borrelia IgM, IgG).

In addition Borrelia

immunoreactive bands B 19, 31, 34, 41, 65 and 94 were

detected in IgG Immunoblot using fluorescent monoclonal antibodies (collaboration with Max-von-Pettenkofer-Institut, München) [29].

Symptoms were comprehensively documented and compared before and after therapy.

We all know that the tests aren't reliable.

We also know that symptoms wax and wane. A longer follow-up would be good.

I recommend 200 milligrams a day, for 50 days.

A blanket statement like that, read by patients, can be a little dangerous. That's why everyone should get their doctor's approval before starting diflucan.

Diflucan can be very hard on the liver and can cause serious damage. We discussed it at length earlier this year, you can look at the posts and find things on milk thistle which is very important to protect you liver and you will also have to have your liver enzymes tested atleast once a month.
