Light Flashing When Eyes Are Closed

Just wondering...

I have severe sound sensitivity, and moderate light sensitivity.

Lately, at night, when I close my eyes to try and rest, I see flashing lights. (Like when you watch fireworks, and close your eyes and can still see them.)

There is no color, just white flashing, almost exploding, light. It is very distracting. I have trouble getting to sleep because of it.

Also, first thing in the morning, before I open my eyes, I feel like the room is super bright, even though the blinds are closed. It's as if it's brighter with my eyes closed than it really is in the room!

Wow. I do sound crazy! Hope someone can relate.

I do see a lot of flashing lights...This is a daily thing for me and has been for many years. I always thought this was a normal happening for everyone. So I recently found out that these were all symptoms of lyme and/or co-infection.

I see the white flashing light patterns when I close my eyes too...I am severely night blind and any light at night will cause me to lose sight temporarily...It can really be debilitating..

I do not drive at night at all if I can help it.

I have this sometimes too, but not quite that bad. I have seen flashes of red, green and orange lights with my eyes open before too. I do have some light sensitivity though.

I get the flashing lights as well. One time I had it so bad that I couldn't sleep and being the positive thinker that I am, I put on some psychedelic music and just rolled with it. Tongue

Hmmm.. how did you know I had a kid? I don't remember saying I did. Maybe it's my Lyme brain...

Anyway.. I'm not sure if I did or not. I wasn't diagnosed with it all that long ago and they told me they don't know how long I've had it. I know what you mean though; we're not sure we want to have more kids because of it.

I'm an Advocate

have all of you been to an eye SPECIALIST; not just an optometrist; the one with more years?

they need to check for lyme in the eyes, etc.

this should be done ANNUALLY!

Betty,

I didn't know I need to go to an eye specialist. What can or does Lyme do to the eyes?

Yet another thing to worry about....

I had the flashing lights as well, early in my illness. LOL i can totally relate to the psychedellic comment. I would say mine were mild hallucinations as well.

I also developed eye floaters that look like the bacteria itself. My LLMD says that its not Lyme but I dont think that its a coincidence that i started seeing them as soon as I went on antibiotics.
