This is what has occurred:

I have been on Zithromax for 60 days without much success. A week ago I switched to the Zhang Chinese herbs (allicin and three other herbs). Started herxing last Wednesday. Symptoms were:

increased pain and migrating pains

odd shooting pains at time in different areas

vibrating here and there in my body

bloating

early wakening

waking at night to pee and have a b.m. (resurfaced symptom from the past)

as well as very frequent need to urinate (almost as soon as I go I feel like I have to go again. There is no relief no matter what I do!!)

So I have been wondering at times if I have a yeast overgrowth. My tongue is white but not terrible and I have a few red spots on it but it doesn't hurt. I do have the bowel issues starting again that I had a few months ago which has me worried it might be candida, but not sure.

Anyway, can yeast overgrowth make you feel no relief from peeing? This all came on during the herx but has stayed on even though I stopped antibiotics yesterday.

My LLMD hasn't called me back yet and I need relief! Could it be that the spirochetes moved from where they were all this time in my right side to sitting on my bladder now?

What is odd is that since the herx I have no pain but this darn bladder issues. Please help!

Michelle

Did you stop the Zithro? Are the BM's more solid now?

You definitely have a bad case of oral thrush so a systemic fungal infection very likely.

Did you try the cornsilk tea for the bladder issues?

I did stop the zithro. The BMs are more solid now, but I can tell what I went through about 3 months ago before antibiotics is starting up again. Back then it all started with the frequent urination, then turned into complete bowel disarray - bloating all day and felt like my food wasn't digesting and then in the wee hours of the morning I would wake up 2-3 times a night with terrible trapped gas and rumbling stomach. During this time it would be hard to pee, occasional kidney pain, but mostly gastro issues. Then somewhere around 5:00 a.m. I would have to have a b.m. and then go back to sleep.

This resolved when I took 3 weeks of a good probiotic, but I can tell its all starting again.

I was desperate so I took a diflucan tablet I had left and so far so good. I need him to call so I can get some Nystatin tablets instead.

I looked through my tea and didn't have any cornsilk. Would chamomille work?

I want to get back on the allicin. What I don't understand is that garlic has antifungal/antibacterial properties, but my LLMD said it can still cause yeast overgrowth. Why is this?? I have read lots of people use it to cure yeast infections. I know my allicin tablet isn't enteric coated so probably wouldn't help a systemic yeast infection, but I wouldn't think it would cause one? I am just thinking of axing the Zithro for good and then keeping on the allican til I get this all sorted out. I felt like I was making good progress during the herx since the pains are gone.

Can old time issues resurface and stay on after a herx?

It does sound like yeast issues could be causing the gastro and urinary issues.

Chamomile is soothing but it won't have the same effect as cornsilk. If you can get ahold of some dried (or fresh) cornsilks or marsh mallow will work well, too. They are specifically soothing to the urinary tract tissues.

You may have lingering symptoms from Candida not herxing.

Wish I had some good advice for you, I have yeast issues but my issue is not being able to urinate. Very hesitant and dont seem to get much out. no uti, already had that checked.

I have been taking spriralina sp? seems to be helping with the yeast. You might want to try that

Bad night last night. After taking the Diflucan at 3:00 a.m. I woke up and my heart raced to 180. It was the most scary thing I ever experienced. It was pounding and skipping out of control.

Now I don't know what to do even more. My tongue is completely white again. Today I feel like crap and I am only going to take my probiotics.

How dangerous is yeast overgrowth to your health? I was reading about how it can get into your blood stream and kill you. Does this really happen? How do I get it under control and fast? Are Nystatin tablets as dangerous as Diflucan? I didn't have any reaction to the oral swish Nystatin, but wondering about the tablets for the intestines.

Do you think my reaction last night was from die off or from the pill itself?

Careyj, I am like that too, not being able to get much out at all. Going all the time, but not really going.

Michelle,

I have had this happen before- and I KNOW how scary it is. This happened to me after taking Minocycline for 3 days and I actually went to the emergency room to be checked.

It was hard for me to tell if it was a reaction to the abx or just the illness itself. It can be a herx. Nystatin is a lot easier to take than the Diflucan. I would talk to your doctor- and try the Nystatin tablets or liquid and see if this helps.

Take care and I hope you're feeling better.

Jackie

Don't take the Diflucan. You've had a reaction in the past and it will continue to get worse. Just try and hang on until tomorrow when the docs office is open again.

Yes, all set with Diflucan! I threw it out. That stuff is harsh. I shouldn't have tested the waters again. That was dumb.

I don't want to go back on the lyme treatment until all this yeast is clear. Does anyone know if that will cause a major setback if say it takes a month to clear up? If I go without treatment that long I mean? It stinks bc my right side pain in the neck and shoulder is gone(which is great) and I don't want it to come back!

As far as the nystatin~my LLMD has me take it everytime I take antibiotics, 4 times a day. I haven't had any problems whatsoever with yeast and the nystatin doesn't seem to do anything bad to me....

He prescribed Diflucan to me as well in the unlikely event that I end up with a yeast infection but so far I haven't needed to take any of them.

Hope you get your issues resolved quickly!!!
