pm me please, I wil help you to find a lyme literate doctor. Also ConnieD and Clayton went to a "natural healing" place in Rosewell, and both have seen wonderful results.

I have spoken with our doctor friend who visits here from time to time lymemd and he has "cured" people with ALS with lyme treatment if I wasn't misunderstanding him.

There is always hope. pm me

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

This is a huge issue. I hope you will pay close attention to what I have to say. ALS is also caused motor neuron disease. Lyme can attack any nerves in the body. When it attacks motor neurons patients have progressive weakness and muscle atrophy. Dr. Martz was a hematologist. He was diagnosed with ALS and told he had only months to live. He discovered he had Lyme and was treated agressively. He is now in complete remission. He started a clinic in Colorado dedicated to the treatment of Lyme associated neurological disorders, including ALS, MS and Parkinson's disease. He had mixed results. Unfortunately, even though he dodged the ALS bullet, he developed heart disease and had to leave the practice of medicine. He could not find a journal which would publish his results. I currentlly have a patient who was under his care. She has stabilized and is even improving. VERY FEW DOCTORS ARE AWARE OF THIS WORK. ALS is a death sentence based on the widely accepted beliefs of mainstream medicine; patients with Lyme and ALS have been cured or it least put into remission. Few LLMD will touch this one. Perhaps ILADS can refer you to someone who has experience in this area. Agressive therapy should be start ASAP. The condition you describe is very advanced. Don't take a chance on alterntative medical therapies. There may be some hope. Get info about the Dr. Martz study. Good luck.
I am a family doctor in Germantown Maryland. I have been treating Lyme for several years and have treated between 500 and 1000 patients. I am learning all the time. I don't claim to have all the answers. I answer questions because I want to help people. Everything about this disease is controversial. I want to write a book which will be a patient guide to Lyme, so questions from patients are helpful to me.

I am responding on my husband's site......PLEASE TAKE THE ADVICE OF LYMEMD. We personally know a physician who was bedridden with a feeding tube and diagnosed with ALS. She and her physician husband went on what they thought was there last trip together because she was only give appox 2 months to live. While on their "vacation", they ran into a former classmate who knew about Dr Martz in Colorado. She saw Dr Martz over 2 years ago and is a vital functioning person who now does research on the side and teaches continuing ed coarses to medical professionals. She does not have the stamina to go back into practice as a doctor. But we witnessed her finishing a 5k walk a few months ago!!!!!!

It is repeatedly obvious that many infectious disease specialists are not literate with lyme disease.

I am soooo sorry your uncle has had to suffer unnecessary medical conditions because of the lack of lyme disease knowledge by the general med society. When will the med schools get on board and start teaching the topic properly (effectively)? We have a daughter in her 4th year of med school and lyme was barely even been mentioned during her time in class or while on rotations. To be honest with you, I'm so sick of hearing about West Nile Disease.....where are the reports on Lymes?

Your uncle must be very scared not being able to breath well....I wish him much comfort and serious med attenton...pm Jamie who apparently has the most current LLMD list and try to find Dr Martz info re: to ALSStudy

Keeping your family in our prayers

Suzie

Hi Robertson,

I am so sorry to hear how sick your Uncle is.

Please check your pms.

My prayers are with you and your family.

Connie

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Open your mind to the possibilities available to you.

An attitude of gratitude is good 'medicine,' too.

To Lymemd:

Don't take a chance on alternative medical therapies?????

If it weren't for my 'alternative' doctor, I'd be dead in a few years....probably of cancer. Now, I'm free of Lyme and reclaiming my life. Alternative therapy worked for me and many others. It's important to find the RIGHT alternative doctor. I realize there are some alternative docs whose patients aren't getting well. However, there are PLENTY of patients not getting well from conventional treatment, too!

We have to help each other find the doctors who are REALLY helping us to get well. My doc is one of those who knows how to treat the whole person and not just the disease. I am living proof. There were many before me, too. Now, there are some from this site who are getting great results, too.....from alternative therapies.
