Has anyone here ever fought there insurance company to pay for there Igenix test results even though they only used labcorp or quest diagnostics?

I am think of doing this? I had a lyme test done by at a hospital and it was positive, then was on abx and had a test at the same hospital during a herx(thought it was menigitis-so did the er) and it was negative. Then had a co-infection test by quest which was negative. Then had a test by igenix and it was positive.

Doesnt this prove that there idea of treatment for a month is insufficient? Im so mad. What am I paying 500 a month for insurance if they wont pay for my treatment. grr

I'm an Advocate

lisa, you are learning what all of us have experienced ... OUT OF POCKET expenses since lyme is considered by health insurance companies as "experimental treatment".

read in my welcome letter about the POLITICS; 2 types of lyme treatment

idsa, infectious disease society of america aka infectious drs.

vs

ilads, intl lyme associated disease society, aka our chronic LLMDS, lyme literate mds

cdc uses idsa's 06 lyme guidelines; health insurance companies follow IDSA/CDC guidelines; thus our bills are denied!

are you on medicare? igenex will be paid except for about $50.

they 1st test elisa; it's MANDATORY! can't do western blot w/out elisa 1st.

Wink Keep trying. You may be surprised with the outcome. I tried and they were paid. So, my advice to you; is keep trying. A positive lab test, I'm sure helps.

Wish you the best.

I have no idea why they won't pay you back something...Mine did I have PHCS...It was out of network so they only payed back 80% of the $1080.00 that I spend...If it was in network they would have given me back 100%....I would call them and speak to a manager..

yea I fought the insurance company and I won, I have Humana, not only did they pay for me to go out of network but they paid for the cost to be treated alternatively. Furthermore, I got a referral for HBOT for 100 sessions. So you can beat them.
