Well I've decided to make a switch in doctors and treatment. My previous doctor began treating me with Doxycycline then switched me to Zithromax. With both of these I had a buttload of supplements to take, however with IBS I just didn't feel like my gut was absorbing anything. Have not had any herx symptoms with Zithromax at all so not sure if it's working. Plus my current doctor didn't feel like I needed to come back for a visit for another six months. That's just a little too long for me!

New doctor will do the IV Antibiotics and IV Supplements. Also informed me that a combination of antibiotics should be used in order to kill the borrelia in it's spirochete, cyst and "shadowy" form. So will be incorporating new antibiotics into the grand scheme of things. He's also testing for coinfections and heavy metal toxicity, plus some other things that I can't recall at the moment. He tells me that insurance will not cover the IV abx unless they get a positive back on the typical Lyme's test so we're doing that as well. I will be a thorn in the insurance companies side from this point out. Luckily I work for a CEO and have direct connetions with Human Resources so will see if I can get them to cover this treatment.

I mean it's ridiculous really. They will treat me for years with other things, doing this test or that test, costing them thousands of dollars when they could treat me with IV abx and I would get better and save them money.

Oh insurance companies, can't live with them, can't live without them. It's like doing business with Satan!

You said it, sistah!

I would love to get your doctor's name (since we are in the same city). If you have a moment, will you pm me the details? Gracias!

I'm so glad that you have a doc that is paying attention! I'm so glad he is testing you for heavy metals. I found out that I have them hiding in my urinary tract. Geez. No wonder I've had problems?!

Yes, the cyst form is when it's the hardest to kill. This is why I refuse penicillin. It's a cell wall inhibitor - spirochetes don't need a cell wall so when you take it away - it rolls into a cyst. I wish doctors would pay attention to this!

So glad you found this doc!

I hope that means my PICC line is covered! I'll find out tomorrow.

I wouldn't do IV antibiotics until you try the full round of combined orals first..pulsing the flagyl and adding the ominceft to yr Doxcy and zpack!

I just pulsed my first 5 days of flagyl and herxed BAD!!!

Don't worry about not herxing...with this Dr I've herxed bad every month...it sucs!!! I've been bed ridden while herxing...
