hi

my poor 7 year old has many of the lyme symptoms (20 of them); and I do recall the bulls eye rash, although my husband shrugged it off as just a bruise -- several months ago.

She has been ill all year (well 10 months). She just got a "borderline positive" result from her lyme test. this was from the neurologist. I already have a phone call in with an internist in my town who has a lot of experience w/ lyme (just waiting to see if he will see someone as young as 7 yrs old).

HOw many blood tests did you go through to reveal that you do indeed have lyme disease? Her neurologist wants her to wait another month to test again, then another 2 months to meet with her. I find that awful; adn I want answers now and get her on medicatiron as soon as possible if needed (since this has been going on for about 10-11 months now!!)

Thanks

Hello and Welcome!

I read all of your posts and you sound very frustrated as you should be. Try to find out from your MD what borderline means. Find out if they did a western blot and if they did ask what bands were positive because the regular MDs go by CDC standards requiring more positive bands to be considered lyme and LLMDs require usually only one lyme specific band. Don't be afraid to tell your Dr. what you have learned from your own research and explain to him that you don't want this bacteria to continue untreated in your child's body.

I really suggest that you find a LLMD as others have already stated but sometimes that takes time to get to see one. Therefore you might want to try to see what your current Dr. can do for you now. Sometimes you just have to be more demanding. If it were there child don't you think they would be wanting answers?

Good luck and take care, Denise

Hi, I'm also busy advocating for my daughter (13) who has been sick for 10 months as well. We have seen 2 pediatric neurologist, 2 pediatricians, Gastro Specialist, Chiropractor, Physical Therapist, Cranial Sacral Therapist, and finally a counsoler. It has been a very long 10 months when you are watching your kids be sick and fighting with all the doctors to do test. She started out with just a headache(or so we thought). Three weeks ago I finally got her PCP to do a lyme test, then educated my self to realize the Elisa isn't accurate. So I have begged her to order a western Blot, and co-infection panel and another blot test with differential. We are still awaiting the results. I almost called today, but I know they are suppose to mail me the results when they get them. I already have an appt. with a LLMD, but couldn't get in till Sept.2. When I get the results of her test I will try to get her pushed up to an earlier time. You do what you can to get her in as soon as you can, but waiting seems to be the name of the game. We saw the Neuro last week and I can't even get the MRI & MRV till August 6. Everything takes so long. I know treatment needs to be "timely", but you can only do so much. You have to push for the right testing so you can push for the right treatment. In this crazy world, WE need a medical degree just to get the right treatment! It is crazy. I'm with you.

Keep pushing and pushing. You have rights! Hang in there.

Becky
