I am proud of Dawn, Clayton and everyone on this sight for the collected sense of righteous indignation, not just over these two recent broadcasts, but over the continuing battle against Lyme disease.

Dawn, your passion for answers is so deep that I can reach right out and touch it. How much I wish for all of us that the answers would be soon in coming. For now, we share information and do with it what we can. There is a bigger battle coming, and things will change.

So let me try to give a brief answer on Dr. Marie Savard repeating the IDSA position that after a course of antibiotics - that there is no more Lyme, only the post Lyme syndrome - or the bone that the IDSA seems to be tossing out to get everyone to stop saying chronic Lyme disease, "an as yet unknown autoimmune disorder" that bears all the same symptoms as Lyme disease.

Many of you may already know the old medical adage, if you hear hoofbeats, look for horses, not zebras. Or, one that we all know...if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck!

If you are treated for Lyme for a period of time, and you don't get better and persist with the identical symptoms, doesn't it make sense that it might still be Lyme, and not an as yet unknown autoimmune disorder? That to me is the most mind-boggling thing, that they want to look elsewhere, other than right in front of their faces, for the answer to all these sick people!

And to make you want to pull your hair out even more, you have a medical society of 8,000 doctors (the IDSA), and another medical society of 20,000 agreeing with them (the ANA), that the research bill before Congress is unnecessary. Think about it, that's 28,000 doctors telling our nation's leaders that $100,000,000 worth of medical research is a waste of time!

These doctors took an oath, in that oath they uttered the words, "do no harm".

I propose to everyone on this site that 28,000 doctors, opposing ANY medical research for ANY medical condition amounts to the grossest of violations of their oath that there could ever possibly be!

And I further assert that any member of these two societies be reported to the American Medical Association for immediate proceedings to have their licenses suspended for violating that sacred oath.

Tom

Great post Tom!! I agree 100% I also don't understand the outright ignoring of patients debilitating symptoms. Where did all the compassionate Dr.s go? It seems to me that everyone agrees that there is'nt a great test for lyme and that is one of the things that the bill will fund is a gold standard of testing. Why are they against that? And what was up with the CNN quote that the tests miss 20%, more like 50%!

Take care, Denise
