Hi Grober,

Not everyone will get the classic bulls-eye rash after being bitten by an infected tick. This is what can make this tricky. I think the statistics are that less than 40 percent ever get this sign. I was one of the unlucky ones back in 1995, I had the classic sign and I wasn't treated for a tick bite, I was treated for an insect bite not known in my med records this is stated. I was not given the right kind of antibiotic to prevent the Lyme Bacteria from manifesting into my system. Are you having any weird symptoms? Anything unusual than before you were bitten? If you are, the best lab in the country to go through is Igenex in California. Over a period of 12 years every test I had, about 15 of them were negative through all these smaller labs out there, they call them quack labs. You must go through a reputable lab in order to be tested properly. I will save you the grief of what I went through. There number is 800-832-3200 and they will send you the test kit free right to your home. The next step is to find a Dr. that will draw the blood for the test. Even this can be tricky for some people, because some Dr.'s don't want to do this for you, which is ridiculous. This is what happened to me. It took me 12 years to show that I was CDC positive for the Lyme Bacteria in my system. I have much faith in Igenex to find this, if you truly do have Lyme Disease going on. I wish you luck, and to be on the safe side, you could get tested. I don't know what others would say about this, but this is my feelings on it. There are many others on this support system that are very helpful and we are all here to help each other go through what we are dealing with. Wish you the best and welcome to this group. Luvdtoteeup.

My neuroligist has sent off a lyme test not sure to which lab. How long do the results usually take?

I think it depends on what test are being run and where they are being performed at. The first time I was tested it took 3-4 weeks and the last time it only took a week. I'm new here so I maybe wrong!

I would find out if your test comes back negative, to ask where was the test sent to. A lot of Dr.'s don't even know about Igenex for tick-borne illnesses. Then after that, I would consider even getting retested. The tests that are sent to a lot of quack labs they are called, miss a lot of cases of Lyme Disease. They have a lot of false negatives tests like what happened to me. Also there are many reasons that you can have a negative test and still have it going on. Check out lymealliance.org for reasons for a seronegative test for Lyme Disease. I couldn't believe how many scenarios there are for having a negative test come back. It happens more to the people that have waited a longer time to get tested. I would recommend also that you find a LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Dr.) if the test is even somewhat suspicious for Lyme Disease. You only need 1 IGM band and a lot of LLMD's, especially on the east coast, would consider you positive enough to treat you. A lot of these quack lab tests won't show even the IGG bands for past exposure or IGM for active infections going on. This is my case. They would come back negative or non-react and not even show what bands were even showing up on my test. I think that a lot of the regular labs that test should be thrown out the door, worthless, this is my opinion because of what I went through for 12 years to prove I even had this disease all along. Again this is my opinion. I wish you the best, and hope you will get the correct answers you are looking for from your testing that was done. Luvdtoteeup. Oh, also, Igenex testing usually takes at least 2 weeks before you get the results back.

I would recommend testing at Igenex too, I got my results 2 weeks ago, positive on many levels. It is expensive and insurance may not cover it, but the results are reliable. My results took 16 days. Good luck!

I took them immediately to the clinic that I found for my son and am being treated there. My son is 27, went mis-undiagnosed for 2 1/2 years, was diagnosed by an IDD, had a PICC line with Rocephin for 3 1/2 months with little improvement, we found the clinic for him so I decided to go there as well. He is showing marked improvement and I'm doing ok, have had some herxing, but nothing unbearable. Neither of us had evidence of a tick bite or rash. PM me if you want to know anything at all.

Ann

If I ever get bit again -- I'm taking abx immediately! It's the best defense - don't wait to get tested, just get on meds!

Let us know what you decide to do and good luck!
