Hello. I am new to this group. My son is 15 and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia last summer. A differing opinion from another Doctor was that is sounded like Lyme disease. His wife had it and was concerned when he saw my ex wife during a routine gyn appt. She has also been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. He suggested they get tested, but stated that there were no north texas specialists for this disease, nor a specific test for it.......I am looking for answers and a lyme disease specialist. My son is 15 and suffers from a myriad of symptoms.....sleeplessness, joint pain, heat fatigue,

nausea, headaches, and all somewhat random. He also developed a sudden onset last summer of anxiety and depression. It has been a rough year for him......I am stressed as to how to cope better as a parent.

If you know of a specialist in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, please write me back....thank, Gary

Hello and Welcome!

OMG I can maybe believe a middle aged woman being incorrectly diagnosed with fibro but a healthy teenage boy!! That's crazy!

You can start by PMing Jamie, one of our group leaders and she will give you a list of what we call lyme literate MDs. Also the most reliable tests are through Igenex lab and Immmunoscience lab. They are worth the money. Click on group leaders and you will find Jamie.

If you have any more specific questions about this info you can PM me or any of the group leaders or just post again.

Good luck and take care, Denise

Hello and welcome to our group,

I was diagnosed with FM, too. That's a bunch of bologna. I believed it for awhile...I just didn't know any better. Lyme caused my FM. FM is a collection of symptoms CAUSED BY SOMETHING.

Jaime can help you find an LLMD in your area. There are some good labs that test for lyme. They are Igenex and Immunosciences.

Good luck and feel free to ask away. Your son can get better. Keep reading and researching, you will find your way.

peace,

Connie

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor

I know from my own experiences and what I've been told by doctors is once it starts causing some of the depression and such that the bacteria has gotten past the blood brain barrier and he'll have to have iv treatments (oral antibiotics can't get past the blood brain barrier. I only had to have the iv infusions for a month and it was taken care of along with a few months of oral antibiotics. Most of the medications they tried me on for depression did anything (they didn't know at the time that I had Lyme) and sleep meds just made it worse.

Smee: No... lightning has just struck my brain.
Captain Hook: Well, that must hurt.
