Hello all, new to the boards here.. kind of a crazy situation here I was wondering about:

So I was just curious if any of you had kind of a sleeping issue, where essentially your body is on a 25 hour sleeping clock. I generally go to sleep 30 minutes to an hour later every night and also wake up 30 minutes to an hour later as well. For example if I went to bed at say, 10pm on Monday, by the time it reached Friday, I would probably be getting tired and falling asleep around 2am. My llmd (is this the proper phrase we use here?) is completely baffled by this as is a sleeping specialist I have been seeing recently.

I have insomnia issues, so forcing myself to go to sleep earlier does not work. I have tried natural remedies, sleeping medication, counting sheep, nothing works and I can't fall asleep any earlier, even if I want to. Also, waking up before my body wants me to naturally is pure hell, but as I am sure you all know, you try your best to cope with it.

I am 27 now and I've had Lyme since I was about 11 years old, so it's near impossible to determine whether this is apart of me and my genes, bad habits, or if lyme is somehow causing this issue. Just wondering if I am the only one.

John

Hey John

Sounds like your Circadian rhythm could be way off...your sleeping specialist should be familiar with this...

Basically, it is what regulates our 24 hr internal clock. What can disrupt this is a lack of melatonin being produced, and core body temp...all of which can be thrown off by lyme - easily...

Consider melatonin production is tied to the endocrine system, which can be severely compromised by Lyme, that and cortisol production too...could all effect sleep patterns...

I would talk to your doc about a good adrenal support product and other supplements that can help strengthen the immune system as well as the endocrine system as a whole...

Also, start a journal and do a temp study - schedule times throughout a 24 hr period to take your temp...

Start reading here...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circadian_rhythm and google from there...

Hope this can help

Christine

~~~Hello Piccoli.
~
~~~Who knows the answer?

~

~~~However, don't waist the opportunity of this extra awake time.Be creative.Plant the Spirit Seed and water it with all this xtra time.Forget about counting sheep.Meditate.Ponder the universe-life and death,why am I here?Infinity out,infinity in,breath out, breath in.Is there life after death,and if so how can I spend all these waking hours investigating reality?What is reality?Is this is just an illusion and if so isn't the illusion real?Am I deluded by the illusion? How can space go on forever?How come it is not empty?Shouldn't it be?What is conciousness?How can I utilize it ceatively?Where'd all this stardust come from?God?Is there a God?If so where did He come from?Are we "cells"in Her "body"?Are we collectively God?What are your questions?
~
~~~You may find few if any answers or perhaps only more QUESTions.But your mind/conciousness consequently will expand.And contract.It will move.It will stop.Just don't waist this precious miraculous "time"going negative.And if you do go negative there are messages there too.Stay centered.After all you are at the center of the Universe John.Ponder this one during your non-slumber.

~

~~~Just don't squander this time.GROW.EVOLVE.Perhaps this is a message from Planet Lyme.A prompting to get it together in the midst of this seeming chaos.Just for spite, lift yourself up-not down.Or tear your self down and rebuild.
~
~~~Try Lama Surya Das for starters.Very wise author.He'll shine some Light on your new found fork in your road.

~

~~~Turn the light on.I know just how very dark it can be in here.Ten years on planet Lyme.Debillitating symptoms.A hundred come and gone.Can barely walk now.But I can fly.Will you?
~
~~~Meanwhile~~~I'll be in my straight jacket~~~lookin like a cocoon~~~hangin by a thread~~~waitin for a butterfly~~~under the moon~~~with the sheep~~~Mitchell~~~

When I 1st got lyme, I slept more then I was awake...I bet I slept 20 hours out of the day...Once in treatment it did get better, but it did take around 6 months before I did not sleep so much...

I have the other problem, I only sleep 5 hours per night, but it has to do with my stress at home and other health issues not lyme related...

I actually do have the same problem. I will go to bed at a normal time on Sunday sometimes even early, 9 or 10, then the next night it will be about an hour later. By the end of the week I can't fall asleep until 2 or sometimes 3.

It makes me feel like I am out of touch with the rest of the world. I used to be able to guess what time it is, but now when I try to guess, I will be significantly off.

I have started setting alarms for when I should eat and sleep in hopes that if I continue to eat on a set schedule, then maybe everything else will fall into that same schedule.

I was taking melatonin every night before bed for the longest time, but about a month ago I had to start taking 2 for it to do anything, and now it isn't really helping at all.

I've also been sleeping through my alarm clock. I set 5 alarms and that still doesn't guarantee I'll wake up.

If you find anything that helps send me a message so I can try it.

also, have you had a sleep study done for sleep APNEA where you stop breathing waking up gasping for air?

my time schedule is like a baby's now; been bad last 3 yrs...much worse than befrore; these last 4-6 months pure hell.

when my body shuts down, i go to bed; not before then.
