The first year I got sick I lost 5 fillings which is just so weird. Then I read how Lyme Disease can even affect your teeth. Now I have pain in my jaw just on one side and my teeth ache. I've already had it checked and nothings wrong with my teeth. Is anyone else affected in this area?

Oh yes honey...It's like this for me....I had BEAUTIFUL WHITE GLOWING PERFECTLY STRAIGHT TEETH..I had a REALLY bad flare due to steroid injections in my early 20s after a car accident...

Well guess what...In my beautiful white teeth with NO cavities I started getting abscesses...It didn't make sense....Then my teeth started to get discolored and then they got a little loose and got crooked!

I had to have surgery for impacted wisdom teeth and my few fillings I got when I was 12 fell out..and ultimately I lost several teeth. Every tooth that had a filling in it ended up rotting away very quickly and there was nothing that I or the dentist could do about it.

I now have only my first molars and one of those is a crown and one is missing and another needs a root canal and crown..I've had one of my upper canines crowned as well..

It makes no sense to me...I have excellent oral hygiene...always have even as a child.. I was SO proud of my smile...Now I find it hard to look up at people because my teeth are a bit crooked and discolored.

I know it's all vain but MAN if you lose your teeth you just aren't a healthy person on so many levels.!

The million dollar question - why doesnt christine smile in her photos???

Cuz she is missing a damn front tooth!!! I have 3 of 4 of my front top teeth...

between bad denistry, years of abx, lyme and genetically my family suffers from bone loss in the jaw and brittle teeth...

I am missing 3 teeth - and it totally sucks - cuz only one was removed properly - the other 2 (front one) just kept breaking...so i have shards of my 2 teeth left -

Really got to get them taken care of - but dont have the $$ for that work...so I will deal...

But yea - our LLMD said that is one of her big issues with her chronic patients - teeth and jaw can have serious issues...

my mom had an abscess that the dentist tried to save - she was on Lyme abx + specific abx for the infection - had the tooth irragated every other day...after 6 months my mom couldnt take it any more and the dentist had no choice but to pull it...

It had 2 huge sacs of infection on it...the dentist couldnt believe it...

the one i had pulled I actually burst the abscess - WOW - talk about swollen face and PAIN!!!

I am using baking soda/peroxide mixture for brushing - and my mouth is feeling much better...but I am sure there is something going on - as my gums are really sensitive...

Christine

My jaw and gums ache to some degree most of the time. I also have TMJ. I lost one root-canaled molar two years ago. Probably should have the six teeth with mercury amalgam fillings redone, but I'm afraid to even begin for fear of losing more teeth, not to mention the pain.

~~~Hi Sunny.
~~~Yes.One of my hundred symptoms has been migrating pains in my teeth for some years but now is gone.

~~~Lucky me-now I can barely walk.Boy if I could get rid of this weakness in trade back for the pain in my mouth I would be a happy camper.Of course I probably then would want to trade off for something else.And so on and so on...yadayada~~~Mitchell~~~
Hey Christine,
If your having teeth issues and dont have the $$ you should be using a fluoride rinse to help prevent cavities. There are lots of products for dry mouth. If you havent had a cleaning in a while your gums could be inflammed due to tartar build up. Make sure you Floss.If you come up this way let me know and I will see what I can do.
Grinding my teeth is a big problem.
I do it when I stress, when I'm in pain and sometimes in my sleep...pretty much all the time! lol
Definitely causes headaches, jawpain, etc...
I need a mouthgaurd, right mom?
Also, my Toothfairy has been preaching the importance of flossing forever...Tongue
It is one of the best things we can do, with brushing, for the health of our mouths. Cool
It is not uncommon to have dental problems with chronic illness...your mouth tells all! Sideways
Oh boy! Tooth party! I've got really badly receding gums, and it has nothing to do with my dental hygiene. Front tooth hurting now; ma need a root canal. Lost a root canaled molar a couple of years ago because it was abcessed.
Found out I had Lyme after my dentist put me on flagyl and amoxy for the dental infection. It caused a massive flare. Then I finally figured out what was going on. Got the Lyme dx three weeks later.
I just had my second tooth pulled in two years, and was just wondering whether Lyme has had anything to do with my increase in bad reactions to dental work and and TMJ problems. I also had 4 fillings that fell out. Plus my teeth and gums are more sensitive than they have ever been.
Tired of spending so much money on my teeth. Having Lyme must run down the whole system, including dental related things.
