Hello all,

I just found this webpage today while I was trying to do research and find answers for my problems. I was diagnosed for lyme disease back in 2001 and during that same month I gained over 30 pounds. My doctor tested me for thyroid and my results were very high. Usually thyroid problems are hereditary and nobody in my family has any thyroid problems. I have always said ever since I got lyme then came problem after problem including the thyroid. I was great for a few years of course just having some imbalances but nothing major. For the last 6 months I have felt very sluggish and irritable. I was just tested for numerous things and was told I also have Ebstein Barr virius which would explain me being tired. Then I was tested for my liver and antibodies and was also told that I could have Lupus but they are not sure. I am only 26 years old and have so many problems and cant seem to figure out what is going on with me. I was just curious if anyone here has similar problems or has been told the same since having lyme. I believe lyme has caused all my problems. I was also reading that lyme can make your thryoid levels off and I am wondering if I even have a thyroid problem since I was tested for it during the same month and if my results were high just because of the lyme disease. None of my thyroid symptoms have lessoned since being on the medication. Please help!

I'm also 26 and was just diagnosed about a week ago with Lyme. I have had it sice age 9. I'v been told I have everything from MS to adrenal gland disease. Lyme disease can mess with all your symptoms. I also have periphial nerve damage and autonominc nerve damage so that messes with all you automatic body symptoms. What kind of meds have you tried, found anything slightly helpful! Anyways hang in there!

Hi Cooley, I don't know if anyone answered you on this yet (through private message, etc.). What you have sounds like classic Lyme. It messes with your thyroid, gallbladder, adrenals, etc. No one in my family has thyroid troubles either, but mine began BIG time when I started getting sick almost 5 years ago.

Most of us here have been diagnosed with MS, EB, lupus, etc. I also have small and large fiber neuropathy and autonomic neuropathy.

I do not know what you are taking, but there are a lot of different meds that you can experiment with. First, do you have an LLMD (Lyme Literate MD) who is prescribing antibiotics, etc.? The typical doctor does not know or understand anything about Lyme, nor does he care to. Once you get on those, you will need to get a good probiotic (acidophilus, etc.) to prevent candida. Lyrica or Neurontin helps with nerve pain, and you need to be getting good sleep. B12 shots and PhosChol (supplement) help with fatigue. It helps to take natural thyroid, like Armour thyroid, instead of Synthroid or levothyroxine - you will notice more of a difference with the natural thyroid. There are other meds and supplements and I could go on and on. But first, if you need an LLMD to get started, please let us know.

Welcome to MDJ!

I don't have a LLMD yet I have a name of one in California, but wonder if there is one in Oregon closer! I saw a naturopathic here where I live who treats chronic Lyme thats who did the Western blot test. I get the results tommorow. I've been on a anti-imflamatory diet and detoxification process for 2 weeks. I don't think he deals with anything other than natural antibiotics, so I definatly want to get in touch with a LLMD ASAP!! If you can help that would be great. It's good to finally have everything explained I've had Lyme for 17years undiagnosed!! What are the chances of being symptom free one day? I also worry about my 2 1/2 year old daughter, whether or not I passed this to her when I was pregnant, how do you know? Anyways good to hear from people who understand, hope to hear from you soon!

P.S. I take that Lyrica it's great!!!!

Cooley
