Hi All, Would really like to get your opinion about treatment for lyme disease. I just got diagnosed after a month of severe pains in feet (metatarsalgia), neck and shoulders. I have felt so depressed and exhausted and I am forgetting everything. I have not functioned as a mother or at work for a while. I feel like I want to celebrate because at least I know what is wrong with me. I was treated for early stage of Lyme disease 3 years ago and took doxcycyclin for ten days. 4-5 months after that I had abnormal heart beats, it felt like my heart was skipping beats. I am thinking with the severe pain I now have and previous history I might have 2nd or 3rd stage of Lyme disease and my doctor and I discussed 30-60 days of doxcycyclin or two weeks of intravenous antibiotics. I opted for the later one but would like some feedback. I live in Columbus Georgia where lyme disease is not very common but I spend every summer in Sweden where ticks are a pest. I have heard that one out of four ticks carries the bacteria there. One day I picked 16 ticks of my 2-year-old child. When I asked my fried who is a pediatric neurologist she told me that all her colleges puts their own kids on antibiotics when summer is over and so I did but skipped myself. Please give me some feedback of your thoughts; I really need your experiences. Thanks a lot, Tina |
