Does anyone have and/or can recommend the ideal

tick removal kit? I have been googling all different ones and am now obsessed with finding the "ideal" one. IS it best to have blunt tweezers or the scraping tool?We will be heading out on many camping trips this summer and I am ,well, freakin' out at the prospect of my family being around so many of those little buggers.

Thanks!!!!

I would be freaking , too. After all, look what we've been through. I don't think any of us would wish this disease on our worst enemy.

Clayton posted a site about The Tick Tactic. Each kit is $5.99. It looked like a great kit to have. It has blunt tip tweezers. I pick tweezers. That's what we used to remove my latest tick. They worked great, got the mouthparts and all. Lovely, just lovely. ugh..

What will you use for tick repellent?

Connie

great repellants ( natural too) can be found at All Terrain---

http://www.allterrainco.com/insect_repellent.html

my daughter used it in tropical forests of Costa Rica last year and it ourperformed the DEET!!!

I agree that tweezer type better than scraper types--dont want to squash the tick or do anything that makes it more likely it injects more juices into you!!

REPEL brand states its recommended for mosquitoes by cdc!!! but not tested cdc for deer ticks---they think it may protect tho

msds http://www.repel.com/ProductCategories/Insectrepellents/ LemonEucalyptus/MSDS/default.htm

relatively safe...but has ethanol and hydrocarbon propellant---so watch it with little kids--not to breathe in or ingest accidentally

a few are allergic to this plant---and you can plant it too---also many lemon scented herbs claim to be protective as well against various pests

with anything--evn deet--still do tick checks, shower, avoid underbrush and be vigilant
