So, I went to the ER last Thursday because I had reached that severe of symptoms and after all my blood tests came back normal, I was discharged.

Well, the doctor called my mother Monday night and told her that every sign pointed to Lyme. She then told him that I was in the Hill Country for 3 months at camp and he said "Yeah, that's what it is then." So he prescribed the DoxyCycline.

However, I have been getting worse, which I'm sure is the abx taking affect. Well, my mom called a specialist, for a follow-up, and the nurse, after giving her the run-around, refused to take me, because "There isn't much Lyme in Texas" and "Some of the blood levels, even though she wasn't specifically tested, would indicate something." and to "see a general practice doctor or take her back to the ER and have her admitted." So, tomorrow I see a general practice doctor.

But if it isn't Lyme which is what EVERY SINGLE SYMPTOM points to, what can it be?

I'm in tears, because I've been sick for four months, I know that's relatively short compared to some of y'all, but it's been affecting school, work, etc.

I just don't know what to do. Any advice?

I do have Epstein Barr, and have had it since I was about 16, this doesn't feel like flare-up, as I have come to call them, or anything of the sort.

I just don't know. It's 4:30 and I can't sleep, and just, bleh.

Hey, I know how you feel. Not every doctor is knowledgable about lymes. I went through the same thing. After my first test from lymes came back positive, I went to one infectious disease doctor who told me that I "probably had a false positive" and that "this could be mono". I had mono before, I KNOW what it felt like, I know this isn't mono. Both me, and my mom, thought this doctor was feeling us a bunch of BS. It's hard to find a good doctor. You should try to find a LLMD in your area, I'm not sure where there are any in Texas but I'm sure there is someone on this website who may know. My second infectious disease doctor was a lot more helpful, was really nice, and knew it was obvious that I had lymes. You're not alone, and believe me I know exactly how you feel I went through the same stuff! Hang in there.

Thanks everyone.

I go to a general practice doc today, to do more testing.

The infectious disease doctor, I don't want to see that one. Basically, they'll bring me in, do more testing, and then set me up for a consultation, which could be December or January, and they won't put me on ANYTHING until then. Plus, the way the nurse treated my mother, I'll find someone else.

Thanks everyone for the advice and such.

I really hate the fact that no one trusts me to drive.

Well, she wouldn't do any testing. She told me to 'see my psychiatrist because it's most likely those meds..'

Because you know, after being on those meds for 5yrs, they are just now starting this, uh huh.

What floors me is I described the rash I had to her, she said it matched the one most people get after being infected, she's from New Jersey, and she still refused to say it was Lyme.

I wish someone would just outright do a darn test.

Doctors suck.
