I was just wondering how many of you have real difficulty sleeping, and to what extent. Personally, my days and nights sort of shifted. I've had the disease for about two years, and once the neuro symptoms started I couldn't go to sleep until about 4 or 5 AM. I can't sleep at all without Ambien, and if I take it at 12 or 1 I still do not fall asleep until 4 or 5. Anyone have similar issues? How do you deal with it?

I've been a very light sleeper all my life and have had Lyme approximately 25+ years. About 10 years ago I started taking Trazadone which really helped with deep sleep. It will take your body a while to acclamate to it, but it's the only thing I've found that has the least side effects and is very inexpensive if you have insurance. I still take it occassionally, just don't need it that often anymore.

A couple years ago I was dx with severe insomnia and over a two week period of time got maybe 5 hours of sleep max. Tried several sleep meds and they either wouldn't work or made me hallucinate, tried everything they could tell me to try and more and all I found was when you're able to sleep take full advantage. Thankfully after that nightmare I'm on a pretty regular sleep schedule since treatment.
