MDJunction to me

"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

Connie,

A TENS unit is a Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulator. Physical therapists use them for pain. It is supposed to block electrical signals to the brain and the stimulate endorphins. Some people find them very effective. I had a therapist who told me it also increase blood flow to the painful area, which is supposed to help healing of injuries.

Sorry ldsucs...I just wanted to get that in there.

Tom

Oh, please don't apologize for being dramatic...that's okay...I just want to make it clear that I care about you and all Lymies. If we can't 'vent' on here, what good is it???

I am SO sorry for all the sickness in your family right now. I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through with your sick daughter. Did the lyme do something to her pancreas....makes me wonder.... You say MAY have diabetes...I pray that they've made a mistake.

You have a lot on your plate right now, ldsucs, and I will keep you in my prayers.

Connie

And thanks for info on TENS...I had that done by some PTs when they thought my pain was due to slipped discs....it didn't work for me, either.

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Open your mind to the possibilities available to you.

An attitude of gratitude is good 'medicine,' too.

That 'expensive' treatment I did that knocked out my pain completely cost me $100 a session -- I felt better after ONE SESSION. In two sessions it was gone.

I'm def. not rubbing anything in... sorry you aren't feeling well.

Does anyone know if lymes causes type 1 dibetes? I say may because we went back to her Dr to check sugar level and it was fine. They gave me a machine to check it this month. We think if she has it that we caught it early which is a real plus. We then are going to recheck her AC1? Levels again in one month. It sucks picking her finger! I hope to she doesn't have it!!!!

I'm very careful of sugar now. Even more than before. I want her to eat my vegetarian diet but she spits most of my meals out! No more juice for her! I don't care how bad she is herxing!

This just hit us out of left field! I think one chronic disease is enough!!

Clayton: Where in Dallas did you get the stim treatment?

I know when I first got Lyme it fully attacked my digestive tract and I had acid reflux from birth on top of it. My whole family talked about I was an extremely picky eater because (and even still) most foods hurt to eat or would make me sick in some way. I do have a great deal of trouble with sugar but have found some are good. Some fruits are helpful and actually sooth my stomach and it's hard to understand but even some vegetables hurt as well as wheat, oats, dairy, and meats. Very limiting. All I can say is don't force her to eat anything she won't because she knows what's good and what's not but get her to try things. I'll ask my mom and see if she can remember some of the things I ate easiest and tell you.

They did think for a while that I was diabetic but never was and checked my thyroid several times as well so I really wouldn't worry too much but it is good that you're checking. Something else you might try is to write down what she eats and how she reacts to it.
