MDJunction to me

ThereseML"When I first came to MDJ, I was in need of peer support in dealing with issues of my childhood abuse. I was moving away from the painful issues and trying to find an uplifting group of people to help me transition to a thriver in my life. I found that here. I also found a group of peers with Fibromyalgia and found the same uplifting experience there. My computer crashed and it was a while before I found my way back, this time with issues related to Parkinson's Disease. I had tried a few other support sites before reminding myself of MDJ. On those, I never got a reply. I finally found my way back here and again found very supportive, caring and inspiring people who made me feel like I was 'back home'. Indeed I am." (ThereseML)

Just talked to someone at Social Security about disability and I'd only get like $1260 and be able to make $980. I need $3000 plus to carry my house etc. Trying not to project but am feeling so horrible today it's difficult to see how I am going to work! Any words of wisdom or advice please? I am just 4 weeks into treatment and have had Lyme for 6 years. I feel like I've entered into an alternate Universe!??!! Sad Chrystle

Not to be a downer...but hon you gotta do what you gotta do. If it does come down to disability being the only way to live then you may have to sell or foreclose on your home. My husband and I went through that 2 years ago. We lost everything. We had a brand new home and two brand new vehicles...I could not work and unfortunately we'd based our budget on two incomes and not just his. If we'd stuck with our older cars and bought a home about half the price we might have made it without losing anything..But most of us in the U.S. did just that about 5 years ago before the bubble burst...

The good news it...You can lose it all and still be happy Smile

With Him we "live" no matter the circumstances. At His feet peace of mind can be found. Peace that passes all understanding is my quest now and forever.

I agree with TaraT. you gotta do what you gotta do. There must be some way you can cut corners too- if we had a house we would have done lost it! Do you have family that could help you out? My parents actually let us pay rent to them for an apartment- it has saved us sooo much money. I'm not proud of the fact that we need their help but I sure am grateful for it.

Yes, you are right - I need to CUT corners. Luckily my mom has helped me. I would have lost the house this Spring if not for her I think! Just got an assignment done so that felt good. I can do this but just in bite-size pieces. Need to stay in the present moment! Thanks to both of you for all your advice and support! Chrystle

yes, this is a difficult time for many many people... America has had the money party and now we are all suffering the hangover... and this hangover may very well get worse before it improves...

Many people are having to get help from others right now and if you happen to be sick on top of it, holy crap, lookout, it's tough out there!!!!

I did hear an interesting thing from a person recently who had lost everything... he said he was happier now because he had been so busy chasing the illusion that money and stuff was king that he almost missed his childrens lives and now he has time to spend with them...

We have lived beyond our means here in America, as individuals, as a culture and now the cows have come home to roost...

I'd like to go to Wall Street with huge empty semi trucks and park them there with signs that read "GIVE IT BACK!"...

And then I'd take care of everybody...

I really just wish we'd all take care of each other!

I think those times are coming back... I believe values will shift...

Chrystle, if I had a magic wand, I'd wave it over your way and take away your worry...

Yours in healing,

Garret

Garret that has to be the sweetest thing I've heard in a long time. I feel the exact same way about taking care of one another. I've given a lot to others over the years but there was no one around to help when I was down. You know how it goes.. I thank God for a good relationship with my parents....they love me no matter what.

It really does help to have your parents support and love, mine dont really understand much about lyme but they still care about us and the kiddos. Ive slowly started trying to educate them but i think its a bit overwhelming for them.

I am so sorry Chrystle! I know how you feel. I can't work anymore and just applied for disability myself. I am looking at just a bit less than you per month. If I don't get approved for disability we will be in big trouble. We can't support ourselves off of just my husbands income. In fact when our savings runs out in a few months we won't be able to afford our rent.

I have been trying to live in the present moment too. That is good advice. There is nothing we can do about it so I guess we should just try not to worry about it until we have too.

I love what Garret and everyone had to say! Luckily I have a supportive family as well. My parents are now paying my medical bills since we can no longer afford my LLMD and the various meds and supplements I take. So I am very fortunate to have them.

I guess we should just try to focus on the good things although I know that isn't always easy to do.

Hang in there Chrystle!! I pray that things work out for you.

Take Care,

Pam
