If you did not get the rash or do not get a rash how do they tell through a WB if it is an old or new infectio?

Also, i do not believe i was ever tested for co-infections, should this of been done? My last testing was about three years ago, WB again and had 7 bands.

As I understand that is the difference between an Igg and an IgM. The IgG represents an old infection or that you have been exposed to that pathigen before. An IgM shows a new infection that is not registering antibodies I think. It's a little hard to explain by typing.

Hey, Teri,

I don't know if they can tell if it's an old or new infection however it's a good idea to test for both IgM and IgG as lyme is unusual in that the IgM can persist for years. I am posting a link by Dr. Jensek about this topic. Since your WB was positive it of course means you have lyme, they sometimes do both IgG and IgM to cover all the bases. Hope this helps.

I tested postive on one and negative on the other. The negative one was for past infections for lyme. On my Bart test I was negative on one and postive on the one for past infection, but in my eyes you can get bart if you have any cats or dogs and I have had them all my life...

I live in Chicago and HOT loving it, just cleaned the pool and going to lay in the sun all afteroon with a good book and a big glass of wine
