Please tell me how you got off the prednisone? I have gained over 82 pounds on this drug. I try to take my self off and get sick and get put back on it. I just want to be back to my normal self again before the Lupus.

I was on prednisone for 2 yrs. and I also gained alot of weight. I quit taking it on my own. I suffered pain every day because I didn't take it but I pushed myself through until my doctor put me on Mobic. It doesn't help as well as the prednisone but atleast I'm not on that anymore. I have been off of the prednisone for 2 yrs. now and I am still fighting the weight gain from it. Also, I dont know if anyone told you but prednisone can cause what is called a Buffalo hump on the back of your neck. I have one and it still wont go away. The doctor I had first to treat my Lupus never told me all the side affects. When I found out it was to late. I had already put on 75 lbs. and developed the hump.

Even with the side affects from prednisone sometimes I wish I was still on it. Especially now, I cant hardly walk for the past 2 days. It is so painful just to get out of bed.

Well I hope this helps some. Ask your doctor about Mobic it might help you.

Hi, my doctor wanted me off prednisone and so she is tappering me off slowly and am down to 2 mgs this whole month and next month I alternate days with 2 mgs and 1 until I'm off and yes the pain sometimes is unbarable. I also gained weight on prednisone but my doctor put me on a chicken-fish and greeens diet in 04 and lost 50 pounds but went up on my prednisone because of the brain hemorrhages so I gained l9 pounds and still can't get it off even though I try to exercise the days I feel half way decent. I also have the buffalo hump and its still there even though I'm going down off my prednisone. Its a catch 22 you need the meds but the side effects are horrible you go off of prednisone your in constant pain and if you go up on prednisone you get the buffalo hump-weight gain and a host of other problems. I can't take asperin and was wondering if mobic has aperin in it? Would love to know because if it doesn't I will ask my doctor about this as I do not have any pain medication.

Eva,

It does say that if you are allergic to aspirin do not take mobic.

I'm sorry I was hoping it could work for you.
