Is your doctor a dermatologist? Just asking because when I had the rash on my face and chest, before they went to medications like this, we tried different creams. The one that worked wonders for me was Promiseb, and the dermatologist gave me samples, so I didn't even have to pay for them. He did mention that if this one didn't work, because the hydrocortisone was not working, there was also a chemotherapy cream that we could try. I never got there, and I don't know what the name was because it was the Promiseb that worked for me.

I think MK is right and you should maybe see the dermatologist before you go on the Cytoxan. They might know of something better to use that could help you get rid of the rash and not need Cytoxan. Is there other things going on that are making the doc think of using a stronger drug? Maybe your labs are not good?

Selena: Cytoxan isn't a medicine to jump into. So your gut feeling is saying ... "hold up ... let me find out more information." MK's and Pandora's suggestion of seeing a dermatologist is an excellent suggestion. Are you seeing a rheumatologist? I wasn't clear who you were seeing? But, I know of others here who have had lupus rashes and their dermatologists have helped them tremendously. Good luck my friend! Please let us know what happens! Take care!

Selena.....Cytoxin is a very powerful medication, I know because I was on it at one time.....I did 4 treatments and my Rheumy took me off as I needed more treatments and this drug is too strong to have many treatments. I do suggest talking to your doctor regarding this drug....do some research as well.

thanks for reply....now i am seeing only family doctor and rhemathology specialist....

i asked both doctor seeing rheumathology but wat they says rash is part of lupus...dermathologist will have to prescribe steroid cream or pill to treat rash....soooo i am sitting here ....thinking what todo...

plus, doc wants me to start with cytoxan because prednisone did not work well this time for my lupus active....but no organ involvement yet....

anyway....i asked for benlysta trial in here edmonton alberta hospital...my doc will introduce me some one who is doing with trial.....

i think even thobenlysta has been approved for lupus patient....here in canada is still on trial....that's what the doc says...

lets see.....

Just repeating myself, but the creams did work for me. Best to you. I hope you find what works for you. Edmonton is a beautiful city. I visited a few years ago.
