"Lupus Awareness" (kam123)

MDJunction to me

"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

Do anyone have Lupus and Fibro? If so, what do you do for the pain? My doctor says exercise, but I am so tired I can't exercise.. so he says exercise and my knees and hips hurt so badly I can't exercise. I am at a loss. Does anyone have any advise?

My doctor always tells me the same thing...exercise. I exercise for 30 minutes and I hurt worse after and I tell my doctor this and she says well you shouldn't hurt that bad after you exercise. So what I do is try to exercise 30 minutes three times a week and I don't work so hard on my machine. I was always one who would work hard to the point I would sweat because it made me feel like I was getting a good workout. Now a days its difficult because my nerves and joints hurt so bad that I can just work slowly on my machine. Well at least I try. I really don't have a pain medication. Last year in August and this past January I had a brain hemorrhage and in order to get me through that because I was in excrutiating pain they gave me "Dilaudid" for the headaches. I had been taking Darvecet N100 for the joint and nerve pain but I was out and my insurance wouldn't cover another pain medication. So my doctor had me try tylenol with codiene and that really doesn't do anything. So now she is trying me on Lyrica and I haven't noticed that its helping my nerves at all and I'm also on Neurontin for the nerve damage and for the seizures. I am also taking cellcept and imruan so I'm on alot of medications and I still have problems. The nerves from my head to my toes hurt and my hips have been hurting me alot lately and I still just try to exercise and when it gets too much I stop. I sure hope someone else on this site has some suggestions for you...Good Luck

I have lupus & fibro. The only thing I can tell you is that even though I HATE exercising and it is torture to do it, I feel much better after the fact. Not immediately after, but a few hours later and it lasts for about 2 days. I got lazy the last few months and was only exercising once a week and I felt TERRIBLE. I thought I was having a flare-up, which I probably was, but I felt like I couldn't do anything. I take Plasmoquine (for lupus) and Cymbalta (for fibro) but I was hurting so much I was taking pain pills all day and night. Anyway, I decided 2 weeks ago to start exercising regularly again and I can't believe how much better I feel! I'm sleeping better AND not taking pain pills hardly at all. All I do is 20 minutes of either walking or bicycling and 10 minutes of stretching. It isn't much, but it seems to be really helping. I hope this encourages you.

Alicia

I have Lupus & Fibro. My doctor tells me the same to. He wants me to get atleast 30 minutes of exercise a day. He started me by one week 10 minutes, the next week 20 and so now I am up to 30 minutes. There are some days I just cant do it but I try to do some thing. My main thing is the weight. I have gained so much because of all my meds so I want to exercise but having Lupus & Fibro it makes it hard. I am taking Imuran, Lyrica, Neurontin, Lasix, prednisone and Vicoden so I am on alot of meds. I have my good days and my bad. I am hoping the exercise will help me sleep because I only sleep about 3 hours a night then I have to get up and go to work so it is hard.
