hi, i'm new here. i was diagnosed with lupus about ten years ago, but also have fibromyalgia, and other autoimmune diseases. i need people to talk to who truly understand this disease...it can be very lonely! i'm a nurse but am unable to work, have three adult kids and one foster daughter who is three years old and soon to be adopted! i'm looking forward to hopefully finding some friends.

Welcome to the group Casamom! Glad you found us. Congrats on the upcoming adoption! We are hoping to adopt one day since it is unlikely that I will be able to have children.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

We have thought about doing foster...I would really love to, but I think it would be too hard to let them go. I have always been active in animal rescue groups and I know how hard it was to give one of the "furkids" up when it was time for them to go to their forever homes (which is probably why we have 3 cats and 1 dog right now lol) but I couldn't imagine having to give a child up. I aplaud you for the work you do!

Welcome aboard Casamom. I know how lonely it can be in our world. I too have Lupus, Fibromyalgia, and a host of other complications that come along with the package. I am a school teacher and trying hard to stay in my job. My kids keep me going. It's good to hear that you are continuing to give of your life to someone special. Congratulations on the adoption.

Hugs to you,

Mochajava

Hi, Yes, it can be very lonely. When I lived in a big city, at least I had a group to go to. Now that I am in Oregon there is nothing. I have even posted an ad to see if anyone with auto-immune diseases would like to meet. Not a single reply. But, that is what the web is good for. This is a giood group.

thanks to everyone who replied to my post...i'm glad i finally found some place to talk to people who really understand. it's too easy for me to become depressed by all my health problems, being able to share about it all seems to help.

Hi casamom,

im new on here too, i have lupus, APS and anti E coagulant. I too am looking for some support and just to chat with people who understand.

How do you find coping with a 3 year old when you flare? I have a 4 year old and it can be hard to keep up with him when it all gets too much.

Hugs

Em x

hi Em...it does get very difficult at times when i'm flaring to try and deal with her...sometimes i wonder if i'm going to make it!! i do my best to rest up as much as possible on the weekends when hubby is home...but as you know, sometimes even that doesn't help when you feel really bad in the middle of the week. it is very hard at times and is the only reason that i would ever consider not going through with the adoption. plus, my husband worries that if i die, he will be left alone with her. i don't have any answers...just try and take it one day at a time. do you have any good ideas??? (: love, kate
