I'm new to all of this, but have always found forums to be a great place to start finding the answers to my questions and getting support, so I'm giving this one a try.

I have no specific dx at this time, but all of my symptoms point to lupus. I'm waiting for some test results and further consultation, but I've got a million questions in the meantime. Hopefully I'm not wasting time following this path and my "self-dx" will turn out to be correct!

Thank you (in advance) for being here.

I was diagnosed with Lupus in October 1988, but had been ill for years before the diagnosis. Since then I have gradually reached remission, at least for today, and you know today is all we have.

I am co-facilitator of the Fort Worth Lupus Support Group, North Texas Chapter, Lupus Foundation of America. I also have a blog, http://TheLadyWithLupus.blogspot.com.

I learn something new every day about this disease, not all of it pleasant, but I maintain a positive attitude, which surely beats feeling angry and depressed. I am currently taking only Plaquenil, but have in the past taken prednisone, imuran and cytoxan.

Question:

My daughter in California recently married (at age 46, her first marriage!) and she called me the other day to tell me she had some pain and tingling in her arms, shoulders and hands. My first thought was pinched nerve; my mother had it a couple of years ago and she finally got a doctor to inject cortisone into her neck and she's been fine since. Since her lower extremeties weren't suffering the same as the upper, I doubt it's anything more serious, systemically, anyway. But I did suggest she see her doctor and make sure the doctor knows her mother has lupus.

I'm waiting for her to call me after she sees the doctor. What worries me is that she worships the sun and I have wasted my breath warning her about exposure to the sun's rays....and tanning booths, for heavens sakes.

Anybody have those symptoms she described and had a diagnosis of lupus from them?

Marilyn (Aunt Mimi) Morris
