MDJunction to me

"When I first came to MDJ, I was in a very dark place, and feeling quite alone, I don't know how I found this site, but I have been very grateful ever since, all of you have offered insight to the illness of Bipolar and the other things going on with me, being here has allowed me to find friends, and to feel safe in discussing things that I would never have shared before.

I believe it has also offered me the chance to reach out and help others. A simple Thank you, is all that I have to offer, to this site and to the wonderful people here.

Hello, everyone!

I just found this site today, and am pleased to be able to have a support group at long last. I used to be a member of another forum, but it sort of disbanded and I have been looking for something for a long time. Thanks for providing this venue for us!

My name is KathieLea and I am a Lupus survivor. I was diagnosed many years ago, and have suffered multiple flares...many of which were life threatening. I have faced death 3 times, and have come out on the other side feeling extremely blessed and grateful that I am where I am today. I am sick at the moment (hence my ability to be on the computer at home), but for the most part I am doing pretty well, and even work full time. NOTE: For those of you that are seeking disability, it IS available, and it IS attainable. I was on disability for several years, and though I work now, I know that should I ever need to go back on disability, the process, though daunting, is NOT impossible. Keep on going...don't give up. On the other side of the coin, whatever you do, DON'T give up on living, either! Exercise is important, eating right is essential, and if you get to the place where you can work (even if it's part time or volunteer work), go for it!

I know that life with Lupus isn't easy...especially when you are in so much pain that it hurts to be touched. I am no stranger to that. But I do want to encourage everyone to look for the good in the situation you are in. That is what is so wonderful about sites like this...we can help each other by encouraging and supporting one another with those all-important hugs and by sharing our experiences and information. Find a doctor you can trust, KNOW your disease. Don't be afraid to ask questions, read all you can, and LIVE.

God bless you...I look forward to getting to know you!

Welcome to the group KathieLea! We are still a small group so invite all your lupie friends to join us. Thanks for the encouraging words about disability. I am toying with the idea although I haven't worked in 5 years. I just finally have a supportive medical team behind me now so it doesn't seem like I'm nuts or it's all just in my head now

Hope you have a beautiful day!

Kaitlan
