Hi Friends

My name is Lisa McLaughlin I am 41yrs old, I have one son 22yrs old, one granddaughter 3 months old, and I have been divorced for five years. I was married for 17yrs to a man that had his problems and could handle my illness so I had to move on. Sometimes life just doesn't work out the way we planned or hoped.

I used to have a great job at Ford Motor Company, and enjoyed my job a great deal at least up until I could not do my job any longer, plus I was missing work so much because of my illness so I decided to except a buy out offer the beginning of 2007.

Everything changed my life has spiraled I have went from a lively, full of energy, happy person to someone that pray she can get out of bed and make it to the kitchen or bathroom, my ability to do daily things are questionable everyday will I be able to cook, vaccuum, dust, walk to the mail box. These are simple thing to someone that does not deal with these illnesses and you will get questioned about your ability because you don't look sick. You will hear that so much that you get sick of it "You Don't Look Sick"?

I stand 5'3" I weigh in at 170lbs, I don't look like I wieght that much but I do, it doesn't bother me though anymore. Hell I have bigger problems than that. The Buy Out I took was an educational one and now I cant go to school because I can't see to read my books, I can't use my hands to write, and I can't sit long enough in a chair so I had to drop out, so I will not get my money anymore, plus I will lose my insurance. I have not even a penny to my name, and I have filed for Disability but all of us know that they are slower than molassas, and will probably deny me several times before I get it. My boyfriend is about to kick me out and I just can't figure out what is worse my illness or my life.

So that is a little about me, I started off with a sunshiny life and through the years it has deminished into a life of confusion and disapare. There are many times that I want to just end it all, and there are times when I want to just find a hole to hide in.

Lisa

I am sorry about all the things you are going through I know that it must be hard for you. Keep your head up and hang on I am sure things will work out. I wish I had the answers for you but this disease is this horrible unpredictable thing that no one really seems to understand hopefully people will began to educate themselves and things will become a bit easier to handle for us. Take care of yourself.

I don't know what is happening but I thought I had posted to this. Oh well that my brain these days. It sounds like you have a rough time lately. I truly hope things turn around for you quickly. Have you found a doctor that you like, that really listens to you? That makes a lot of difference. So many doctors just don't understand lupus. I hope today goes well for you

My heart goes out to you today and will be sending out a prayer. I filed for disability in April of 06 and was denied but was able to appeal. I'm just waiting now for a hearing date I'm fortunate because my brother-in-law is a lawyer and he is helping me with this. Please know that all of us are here for you. By-the-way my sister was married to a fellow with the last name of McLaughlin, small world.
