My prayers are with you. I have had lupus for l5 years and have been thru quite alot. Having your husband support you is wonderful. The best advice I can give is read as much as you can about this illness. I read quite a few books and learned alot. I also have a wonderful rheumatologist and family and that helps too. I still have days that I'm scared and lonely thinking I'm the only one but alas there are other people who have this illness that this support is great for to share and support others. Anytime you want to vent I'm here. Take Care

Eva

I also got the news in April. I have been in a major flare for about 3 mos. Everyday it seems like something else is breaking. I am 29. I went for taking one pill a day, now to 20 or so....No major health problems to unable to work (right now). I was started on treatment for about a month. I am just now starting to feel a difference. I was soooo upset that things got worse before they got better. I thought.....drugs=feeling better instantly. This is a wonderful place to learn. Knowledge is power. You are or will go through stages of sadness, confusion, denial, rage...etc. I you need anything let me know. It is great that your husband is supportive but sometimes it's hard for others to understand. Glad you found us!

I now will be going to cailfornia and telling the news to my in-laws about what is going on. I need to see them face to face. its going to be hard and they might not understand. I will keep writing and let everyone knowhow I am doing and how I will beat this.

Lupus is hard to handle but I think your on the right track. Telling you in-laws or anyone in your family or friends is a difficult thing to do. They may not fully understand but maybe you can suggest that they find a book or go online to read about whats happening to you and your body. My prayers are with you. Take Care of yourself

When I was first searching the net to find out more about Lupus, I found this web link listed below. It is a wonderfull presentation/PowerPoint about lupus. It takes about 5-10 mins. I LOVED it sooooo much, I sent it to everyone I knew. As a nurse, I thought I understood what lupus is but this is really great. I also high recommend "The Lupus Book" by Daniel J. Wallace, MD. Good luck!!!!!!
