My rheumy has me take 50 mg of tramadol three times a day. This is not taking care of my hand/wrist/knee/elbow pain at all. I have tried it for a couple of weeks now with no relief. I left him a message today, but who knows when I will hear back. What do you all take for pain?

Thanks,

Amy

Also, run your hands under cool water, not ice cold but a little colder than room temp. it will relieve only for a second, do it when the pain is really bad.

I take mobic every morning for my joint pain and whatever other pain I have and it works well for me but there are times I could use a pain pill for which I have none at the moment. I can't take asprin because of the hemorrhages I've had but you could try aleve or advil.

I take Mobic for the inflammation. Then, Tramadol (Ultram is the same thing) for pain. It didn't take long to realize that it wasn't going to help much. He then put me on a narcotic, and has upped the doseage several times.

Hopefully, you'll here from the rheumy soon. He'll surely give you something else to help.

The bath tub is my best-friend. I often spend about 3-4 times a day in there. And pretty much "alway" spend another 3 times in there in the night. The hot water feels great.

Warm water is about all that helps me. Anything cold sends me into major pain.

I have tried Advil. My GP I saw today doesn't like tramadol, he switched me to percocet until I can see the rheumy next week. He also wants to send me to see a new rheumy up north in Portland. He isn't happy with the care my current one is giving me.
