Hi Brian,

I’m no doctor, but I can certainly be of some help to you. The first and foremost thing for you to do is to seek medical intervention at the earliest. It’s no use being in the dark and groping. Go out there and check with at least 2 or more physicians, as none has been able to diagnose the problem correctly. Once the diagnosis is in place, the prognosis can be had after confirming how long she has been suffering.

It may be due to menopause or it maybe due to some other causal factor. You need to act fast, as I have read that lupus can render a few organs useless! If that’s the case, your mom could be heading for sure trouble. Do act fast and keep me informed.

Ted

Dear Ted,

Thank you for so much on lupus. I spoke to my mom last night and she seems a bit terrified. Neither she nor anyone else in the family has heard about this disease and all seem concerned. Will escort mom to the hospice as soon as possible. Until date, she is active physically, except the pain in the joints, which renders her irritable but not motionless. The swelling and rashes persist.

Could you kindly inform the type of tests conducted to verify the problem and the duration of treatment, and the type of treatment? I can explain to mom the whole procedure and we will be armed with sufficient knowledge when we consult the physician.

Brian
