At the risk of sounding a bit silly, I can explain what happened to me the way the drs. explained it to me. I had Lupus and it was lying dormant in my body. I bought a business - a child care center - and with it came TONS of stress. After so much stress on me, it caused a major flare with the Lupus that was dormant in my body. Since Lupus tends to be a pretty blanket diagnosis, and effects everyone a bit differently, then yes, with the positive blood tests, you can have the disease (I hate that word, but am blank for a better term) without necessasarily having any symptoms. Also, keep in mind that you may actually have some of the symptoms, but they may not be obvious enough to be bothersome. I had blood clots in my legs a few years prior to actually getting really sick enough to warrant the Lupus label, come to find out, clots are a symptom of Lupus, and had my dr. checked into it further then, we would have known before my major flare. Also, I have a friend that is going thru the testing right now, and her drs. have told her that just because you have positive ANA test, that doesn't always mean Lupus. ~christa~ |
