Well, I had my return appt today to discuss my dx. As it stands they've dx'd that I do have skin lupus. That's affirmative. Of course the dermatologist asked me a gazillion and one questions and ultimately FINALLY confirmed that he believes there is some systemic involvement. Of course, he ordered a blood workup. ANA, CBC and metabolic panel. He also made a referral FINALLY to a rheumy and also put me on Plaquenil. I'm to start that this evening. I can't lie and say that I don't feel some relief that a Dr has finally confirmed that it's 'believed' that I'm having other issues. However, it's so intimidating. I guess the biggest ? that lingers for me atm is...it seems that quite a few of you have been on or are on Plaquenil...Have any of you ever had any negative or adverse reactions? Do any of you have any suggestions on the best time of day to take it? So and so forth. Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you to all of you and have a wonderful pain free day!

Sabe

Well, I too am glad you finally got some sort of answers from your doctor....I was on Plaquenil a few years ago and It did upset my stomach a little so I took it every other day and that helped. Since then I have been off of It ( thought I was okay and actually was for a few years) but then I had a bad flare up that started this fall until recently...to make a long story short the rheumy put me back on some other meds and Plaquenil 200mg twice daily and I haven't had any side effects even though the dose is higher than before. As for what time to take it, I take my first one with breakfast and second with dinner and I have one of those large pill organizers from Wal-mart that has morn, noon, eve, and bed labeled on it....I put all my pills in there and it helps so much because you can tell if you've forgotten any...hope this helps....See ya

It does help to know that there's others out there coping with the same issue's. Sometimes you feel so totally alone and not understood. It's nice to come here and give and receive support. Thank you for your response.

Hello. I have been on Plaquenel for about a year. Honestly, I cant tell you that I see any difference. I take it, I take lyrica, pain meds, and zoloft, and I am now on meds to keep from getting sick. I have good days, and I have bad days~they come more frequestly.

Hi All

Ive been on plaquenil for about a year 200mg 2xday. I've been loosing quite a bit of hair since starting it. My dr put me on 2000 mg folic acid and prescription prilosec. She's adamant that I continue the plaquenil despite the side effects. She claims that its the only med that can change ana results. Just a reminder: be sure to get your eyes checked twice a year.
