Hello,

I was with SLE Lupus/ fibro they sometimes call it mixed connective tissue disease.........

about 12 years ago since that time I have had several ANA tests done and sometimes they are neg sometimes postive yet I always have a very high sed rate 20-50

I do not understand and the Doc's just say oh, sometime that happens ??????? but how and why is it remission when neg?

well if anyone can shed any light on this or has had the same thing happen .......please let me know

Hi Bella,

I have always had an ana-negative test but very high sed-rate. Even when I'm not in remission (which has been several years) I still have an ana negative test. My doctor says that 10% of her patients are ana-negative. I also have a very high "histone antibody" test and every time they test me its positive. I'm not real clear as to why some people are and some are not positive. I see my rheumatologist next week thats a question I'll have to ask her.

Eva

Bella,

Welcome to this great site..I am also new, lately just have the energy to be a lingering type...reading what everyone posts and get encourgement from that. I also have had neg. ANA and then pos. ANA. My Doc doesn't really give much advice on it but do know I feel better when its neg. The weird thing is my sed rate is always more normal because I have a bleeding problem..so they can't go by that. ha ha I like being difficult..Please take of yourself.

Tam
