Once again, hello all!

I have a ? for those of you out there that have gone thru all the tests and poking and prodding before.

I have been telling Dr's for several years now that I have joint pain, back pain, severe headaches, extreme fatigue, muscle tenderness and sometimes pain, concentration problems, etc etc...

I went to my OBGYN abt 3 months ago because I was tired of having this rash that was controlling my life. I live on the ocean and can't so much as even go to the beach for 15 mins w/o paying largely for it. I can't sit in front of my fireplace when I'm freezing all the time, to warm up, without the rash going crazy. Heck I've even had it go crazy for nothing more than standing in front of the stove to try and cook for my children. Anyway, now that I've rambled...she did bloodwork, she said to look for lupus...a couple weeks later I returned and she told me it was negative. I asked then how could we look further becos of the above issues, to which she offered no help other than to schedule me an appt with a dermatologist. No help sleeping...no help with the pain...etc etc.

I went to the dermatologist and the very first thing he said was "that looks like a lupus rash"...so I replied, "I tested negative for lupus"...to which he replied, "Lupus won't always show up in the blood work"...He did a biopsy and TADA!!!! It comes back posotive.

Do any of you know if that is possible? I've got to have it systemically or something allong those lines anyway...I mean good heavens...looking at the research I feel like the poster child.

Just curious if any of you have any thoughts...or maybe suggestions

tata for now

Hi, Welcome to the world of Lupus. Everything can be all over the board. Syptoms can very quite a bit from person to person. Labs can look good one time, bad the next. You should find a rhuematologist that treats Lupus. When you are first diagnosed and look at all that info in the net, it can be overwhelming. But, there are new drugs all the time.We can live long after that first day when the doctor dops that bomb on you. I am almost up to 30 years after diagnoses. Just hang on and ask questions. It seems like at least some one might be able to answer. I hope thngs go well for you.

Ali

Hey, jcbrooke3, My name is Tish, ladycarter on here, and that is very simuular to what I went thru in the beginning,(see profile) not that you will end up like me,but when it first came out of my system, I had the malar rash (butterfly rash) across my nose, and cheeks and lesions on my face and head, after almost a year and a half, of being told I was having an allergic reaction to a shot, I finally went to a dermatologist, who said exactly the same thing, he did a biopsy on a lesion on my head, and Tada! Lupus, Hopefully now you will get a referral to a Rheumatologist, There are 5 types of Lupus, and I believe only 1 will give a positive ANA bloodtest, which is Systemic Lupus Erythematosis, and other than drug induced Lupus, they are all usually treated with simular medications. What I didn't share on my profile was that I was in the US Navy for 6yrs, and spent all my time on beaches, This is sometimes what I miss most about having Lupus!I would strongly suggest You avoid the sun and uv lighting as much as possible, untill you can find out more from a Rheumy Doc, about what type you have, There is a lot of information out here about Lupus, And it can be overwhelming and scary! and would suggest you have someone with you when you begin this journey, I would also suggest you might want to start with Discoid Lupus, Just remember it affects eveyone differently! If you need anything please don't hesitate to ask, I am not a professional, but Im always here, for support! Tish
