MDJunction to me

MissNikkiAnn"When you have an illness with the name "Non-Familial Dysautonomia" (a name that most people, and even doctors, have never heard of), you need a network
of people who understand the name and the symptoms/issues that come with it.
MDJunction led me to that network of people during a very confusing and sickly time. For this I am thankful. And for this reason I try my best to give back to other members the same care and help that I received through MDJunction.

I am missing everyone and I see there are a few newbies I need to get to know as well. I just want everyone to catch me up a little bit on their Summer so far. I have been using my SPF 100 and I have been swimming. The past few years I wasn't able to swim because the cool water would give me bone pain. I have been house hunting and there is so much on the market that its tough. You love something and someone snatches it. So tomorrow we are seeing a place we loved for the second time and we are making an offer. Fingers crossed. Our mortgage broker has promised us that after inspection we can close within one week. She will make it happen. I guess it helps she is a friend of ours. Now I have been online shopping for furniture. Matching things virtually room to room. When I am not busy with that I have been working. It just seems like Summer is going so quickly this year. Now its your turn..........what are you all doing? Vacations? How are you feeling? What are the kids up to?

Big hugs. April

Hello! Wow, good luck with the house hunt. I hope you get the one you want this time. It's so exciting. I don't own anything, the only idea just freaks me out, but I think sometimes, deep inside, it would be totally cool for Sabou to live in a place where I could say 'go outside and play' you know? And of course, a dishwasher and laundry stuff in the house would be great as well, maybe even central air... but you know, we do what we can do.

As for this summer, I can actually say that I think Sabou is having a great one. We went away for Memorial Day weekend and visited friends who own a big house, 7 acres of land, chickens, a tractor and an in-ground pool. She LOVED it. Then my brother just installed a pool in his backyard so that's been fun for her to hang out with the cousins.

In June, Youba decided to go on vacation to Paris without us, so I shipped her to my parents for a week. They live on the beach in Rhode Island, and with my sister in law and two cousins, she was able to play on the beach all day. I can't stand beaches. I can't be on them or near them, so it was wonderful knowing that she was not limited by mommy's problems.

This weekend we just got back from another fabulous weekend upstate with the pool, the chickens, etc.

For the rest of July we have two more weekends booked at my folks' place at the beach, and in August so far she's got two birthday parties - hers and two cousins.

I think this summer will be full of fun for her, and I'm very proud of that.

Thanks for asking. It's soo good to hear from you. Been thinking about you a lot.

MK

Hi April & MK.....Sounds like you two have had a busy summer so far. My only outlet so far has been a birthday weekend with Fred in our trailer....the first time we finally got to use it and had a great time except for it was 100 degrees where we were. Other then that nothing too exciting but we are taking a cruise in December for 10 days....can't wait. I hope that this house comes through for you April...how exciting for both of you. We've been in our house since Thanksgiving of 1981....we. In May of 2004 we redid our whole house and added a couple of rooms...it's vitually brand new, the only thing we didn't do was put a new tub in the spare bathroom....it took a year to do but it was worth living in the dust and filth.

April...please keep us informed about the house

MK.....let us know how things are going....Love both of you

Eva

April, Hi and glad to see you here again. I like having a sister R.N. In the mix. Can't wait to hear the outcome of the house deal. Exciting times!

MK, You and Sabou must be having a blast this summer. Youba better come home bearing fabulous French surprises for his two girls.

Eva, Cruise plans? Do tell, sounds romantic. Cruisin' can be a kinder, gentler way to vacation for sure, love 'em.

32, Welcome aboard. We don't bite...much. lol, You are with supportive and caring folks here. Where are you?

What's been going on this summer with me? Well, I've been itchin' and scratchin' ever MK virtually exposed us all to some dreaded wide spread itching phenomena. Horribly uncomfortable, requiring 24/7 calamine baths. Eva, how are you fairing? I hope everyone else has been inoculated!

Off to go drain and draw a new tub.... lol

Lisa....You crack me up....thanks for the laugh. We always go with another couple but find time for a little "whoopie"...hehehe. We started cruising in 1998 because I wanted to go before I got really sick, little did I know that the boys enjoy going as much as us gals....so we try to go every other year but haven't gone since 2008...have been to sick to travel but now I feel strong enough to go. I just have to rest for at least a month or two before we go.

And then, a couple of months afterward, too! It's worth it.
