Lupus Support Group

If you are looking for hip young active Lupus warriors in the NY area, I would TOTALLY get in touch with the SLE Foundation in Manhattan. The social worker there is Jessica Rowshandel, and they have a group called the Young Leaders, and leaders they are! At the end of June, I believe, they are having a Lupus event, complete with an HBO Def Jam artist, who is living with Lupus, and is absolutely fantastic, and runs marathons (or half-marathons, or something?) Anyway, these ladies are incredible, and in their 20s and making sure that Lupus doesn't impact their level of coolness. I'll try to post the SLE website, Jessica's email and the event flyer. Also, if you're on Facebook, there is a closed Lupus group called "You know you're a Lupus patient when..." Which is run by the absolutely fabulous Tiffany Peterson, who lives in Staten Island, and is one of the Young Leaders at SLE Foundation. You could easily join the group on FB and get in touch with Tiffany that way.

Oh, wait, they are having another event on June 13th - Wear White for the Fight - Wednesday, June 13th from 7pm to 10pm at Tenjune - 26 Little West 12th Street and again they'll have the HBO Def Com poet, who is also a member of the Young Leaders group as well as a violinist, open bar, hors d'oeuvres, and raffles.

And it looks like there may be a Facebook page for the SLE Young Leadership Board that you can look into as well.

I hope some of this helps and is what you were hopings. These ladies are dynamos and I think you'd enjoy them very much.
