OK, so after two weeks of being home with pneumonia, and one week successful return to work, I am now out of work again because of the flu. It hit hard, and yes I had my flu shot. There was this intense pain in my chest and in my back that made it hard to breathe. Has anyone else had that? I think I'm finally getting better, the big decision now is whether to go back to work tomorrow, or just call it a weekend and go back on Monday. I think I've been out more days than I've worked in 2012. And so it goes.

I myself refuse the flu shots and most other shots. Too much garbage in them, too many things that cause allergies in some people and they aren't told about them, and too many side affects. Not to scare you but I know one woman whose husband had gotten a tumor not long after getting a flu shot. When he'd finally started getting better, tumor shrunk & he was feeling better, he got his flu shot again. Tumor returned only this time worse and he died three months later. Sad

So sorry you got sick once again MK, the flu shot just id what they think is going to come around. It isn't a guarantee.

I hope your feeling better. I would have said to take Friday off and Rest until Monday. What did you end up doing?

Mary Kay:

Speaking from my nursing background, I've seen patients with pneumonia ... it takes 6 months to get back to their normal state. Pneumonia wears you out. That's in a patient who doesn't have lupus. It's not surprising to me that you've developed the flu. Your immune system just makes you so susceptible ... and your sweet little girl is developing her immune system ... Do you take any supplements to boost your immune system? I saw the note about the flu shot ... did you take one this year? I know I'm a RN ... but I really believe in them. I read on the Lupus Foundation Site that Lupus patients are recommended to have the flu and pneumonia vaccine. I know some people are against these vaccines. I'm all about prevention. Wish I could help with your little darling today. She sounded like she was a busy little bee ... wishing you lots of energy today ... or at least roller skates! Feel better.

Karen....I thought we weren't supposed to boost our immune system as it is already in over drive?

MK.....Karen is right, since you already have a compromised system it will take you longer to get over other other illnesses. I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

Thanks you guys. I feel relatively fine, it's just this darn cough now. I just keep drowning it with water. How do I go to work with immuno-difficient people and cough all day? It doesn't seem fair to them either, you know? argh.

And yes, when I was feeling well, some months ago, my Rheumy did give me the flu shot. Because of my little one, I think it's extra important that parents get it? Not sure, but he said that I was healthy enough at that time, so I got it.

I'm hoping spring gets here quick! Feel better MK!

Eva: Vitamin C ... I personally take Vitamin C 1000 mg daily during the Fall and Winter months. I feel like it boosts my immune system ... what little I have. However, not all physicians may recommend this. There's no proof that it boosts the immune system. However, Dr. Paul Linus was a believer in Vitamin C. I guess I am, too. What does your physician say about Vitamin C?
