Hi all,

I have just been put on a blood glucose tester as my lupus symptoms seem to be copying some Diabetic symptoms, dr is worried that maybe the lupus is starting to attack my pancreas! I was always worried about my kidneys, never heard of it attacking the pancreas before...

anybody, been on a blood glucose monitor before or heard of lupus attacking the pancreas????

Am a bit worried x

Hey emmalee,

I haven't heard of anyone I know having pancreas troubles but I guess it makes sense. Lupus can effect every organ system which I guess includes the pancreas. I was suprised last month when I went in to the doctor because I was having excruciating headaches with occasional numbness on my right side. I was shocked when they immediately checked me into the hospital because "lupus can cause vasculitis which in turn could cause clots and cause a stroke" I'm not even 30 yet and they think I had a stroke! (still waiting on some tests to come back to confirm the dx or rule clots out). So I guess that is one thing I can say about lupus...it keeps you on your toes! Keep us updated on how you are doing and if it turns out that your pancreas is being effected..I would be intrested to know.

*gentle hugs*

Kaitlan

Hi,

I have never been put on a monitor, but have been checked before and after meals while hospitalized. I think my love of water always makes them think of diabetes. (Water is always my beverage of choice.) I do hope for the best for you.

Ali
