carmen33"When I first came to MDJ, I was in a very dark place, and feeling quite alone, I don't know how I found this site, but I have been very grateful ever since, all of you have offered insight to the illness of Bipolar and the other things going on with me, being here has allowed me to find friends, and to feel safe in discussing things that I would never have shared before.

I believe it has also offered me the chance to reach out and help others. A simple Thank you, is all that I have to offer, to this site and to the wonderful people here.

Hi,

If you have been, or are currently on Imuran, I was wondering how well you are tolerating it. I'm on day 5 and I have a bad stomach ache and a bit more tired then "normal"....I'm suppose to go up to 2 pills on Sunday, and 3 pills the following Sunday. Any thoughts?

Lynnette....I am on 50mgs and am not tolerating it very well right now. I think it is starting to bother my liver again. I guess I just can't take these kinds of meds. I think if it gets too bad for you talk to your doctor.

Hi Lynette, I took Imuran for a couple of months and had to stop it due to GI and liver reasons, if I remember correctly! It was over a year ago and my lupie memory sucks! I hope the side effects get better for you!

I've been on Imuran for a few months now. When I first started, I was nauseated all the time and had bad stomach pain/diarrhea. I started taking the pills at night so I could sleep through the nausea and found that I always need to have food in my stomach. Once my stomach is empty and I start to get hungry, I feel horrible! I only had to go up to 2 pills and the nausea went away after about a month. I still deal with some stomach issues, but I haven't had any joint pain since I started it, so I think it is doing something. I was tired a lot too, but that may have been due to my anemia/low red blood cell count. I hope it gets better for you...I remember wanting to stop because the side effects seemed worse than the lupus!
