Have any of you had vertigo or leaning to one side or another at times. It's really a weird feeling and only last 30 seconds or so.I feel like those commericals where people are tilted to one side.

YES! I have had vertigo on a few occasions, feeling just completely dizzy. Then, one time, while driving on Route 95, I had the second sensation that you describe, and the whole world was turning to the right. It was freaky. I tried to pull off the road, but with the world turning to the right and then me turning to the right, it got worse. Then those lines on the side of the road that make noise when you're going off the road made me even more dizzy. So, I just kept driving straight until the next rest stop. I have to say that mine lasted more than 30 seconds, and I haven't driven a far distance since.

So, I was told it was probably the Prednisone. When this happened I was already tapering off the Prednisone because of other optical problems, mostly auras or flashing rainbows of light like a kaleidoscope in front of my eyes.

I was down to 5mg when the world started turning to the right, and I am now down to 2mg beginning to taper to 1mg on Wednesday of this week. I need to tell you that it has not happened since. My optical problems, vertigo, and this world turning to the right has not returned. So, now I'm really wondering if it was in fact the Prednisone.

I would definitely speak to your doctor about it. I ended up seeing a neurologist just in case, but it is not my brain, and the ophthalmologist has stated that it is not my eyes, although he recently diagnosed me with the beginnings of Glaucoma, but I think that is completely not Lupus related, and not related to the prior optical problems either.

I hope you get relief soon.

MK

Absolutely. I have also had it while driving and I kept shaking my head and thought I was going to need to pull over to pass out. Very scary feeling. To be honest, my 2 episodes only lasted a few days (and Random times during those days) at a time about a year apart. I have had my eyes checked and a CT Scan so I am assuming it is due to Lupus...
Lupus has taken much from me but as long as my heart still beats, it has not taken everything!

Yes....I have had vertigo for many years and it only happens on the right side.....I get so bad that I fall...I am very careful about leaning over or tilting my head to one side....sometimes it will wake me up during the middle of the night when I am sound asleep. I know for me it has to the with the central and periperhal nervous system and it is all on the right side of my body. I do see a Neruologist for this....I think you should talk to your Rheumy about this.

Vertigo is actually caused from essentially a piece of brain that gets knocked loose in the inner ear. I had it terribly about 7 years go so bad I couldn't tell up from down. I went to the dr and he did some very simple series of stretches that helped it go away. Might want to look into that...

I have vertigo that when I turn my head abruptly, I feel dizzy for about a minute. After several ENTs and neurologists later, only when the rheumy have increased my lupus meds would the vertigo goes away. (But then once a while, it comes back). My doctors tell me it is an autoimmune middle ear inflammation.

Ladies thank you all so much for your experiences and suggestions. I will be seeing the Dr. on Wednesday and find out what she has to say.
