Hi I have posted a couple times now but I always forget to ask if anyone has any other auto-immune disease along with lupus?

Myself I have Sjogrens, RA and raynauds.

Good question. I've got type I diabetes, which is an autoimmune disorder, but... do you think they're connected?

Do you think that your "collection" of autoimmune diseases is just bad luck, or a predisposition?

I apologize for taking so long to post again but back to my lasy post, I have often wondered if having more than one auto immune disease isnt an accident. I for a long time was on another support group for auto immune diseases and the question was asked to every member if they had more than 1 auto immune issue and I would have to say that 98% of the group did in fact have 1 or more auto immune related disorder. I just cant help but think that its no accident. I feel that Lupus is like the umbrella disease and the other issues are related in one or another. Thats just my personal opinion.

[b]When we have one autoimmune disease, we always get more. Besides lupus, I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis, Reiters, MCTD, Guillian-Barre. I can't think of the one that makes you hands and feet cold. The brain fog is bad today. I don't have RA, but degenerative arthritis, which I don't know if it's one of the autoimmume diseases or not. It's not by accident that we get these. All autoimmune diseases are related. I inherited all of mine from my dad's family. I've had many joint replacements and needing a hip replacement now. I'm waiting on that surgery as long as I can.

I hope you're feeling OK today.

Lupus Hugs,

Polly

Yes it is Raynauds! I too have that one. I went just last night to pick up groceries with a friend and I wasnt cold, heck it was still warm out and my fingers were bright red and in some spots white with no color at all. My friend noticed my fingers and was shocked. I told her that I dont usually do my big food shopping with out one of my kiddos. I hate to have to handle to cold food and then fight like heck to gain feeling back to bag the groceries. I would rather stay away from the cold stuff and feel my fingers. lol

I do however have it effect my hands and feet for no apparent reason at time also. Maybe we should start a new thread about raynauds. I had no idea so many others were here that had raynauds. hmmm.... what do you think? Should we ask Dear Roy to have a new forum for raynauds or just auto immune diseases?

I know that auto immune diseases are closely related to each other and it really makes me think about the fact that so many of us dont usually have just 1 auto immune disease. We end up with 2-3 minimum. I am not saying its impossible to only have just 1, it just gets my ol brain thinking.

I am so new to this whole Lupus I have been diagnosed a little over 2 years but have been with symptoms for about 10 I was blessed with a mulit hit of type II and a pos ANA for SLE in the same day I have a great doc but it seems that i can't ever get any straight answers from anyone.... everything is always Lupus maybe I am looking for a simple cause or something other than Lupus but any ache or pain or cough is always Lupus how is this such a huge bucket that has so little research? I have started have very bad numbness and pain in my hands and feet that is just referred to as oh thats lupus being immune compromised as my sister says has totally ruined my life for so long i just wanted to know what was wrong with me and being told I have SLE should have made me feel better but it has only made things more frusterating sorry to set this bomb off I just am so glad to find a place where i see others having the same issues for a first time ever and finally felt comfortable
