So sorry to hear that you're suffering with some severe depression.

You asked if it's associated with Lupus. - I feel that it comes with any disease and/or chronic illness. Cause there's pain of some sort with all these, whether it's physical or emotional. Doesn't matter if it's Lupus, Fibro, Myofacial pain, Cancer, MS, CFS, etc. And life gets hard to cope with when we're hurting.

Hang in there. I hope that you find some comfort in this online support group. Are you getting other outside support?

Amy

Almost every person in my lupus support group are on antidepressants. Stress can be so bad for us. My support groups has a saying for- when things get to bad. "Lupus sucks!" We even put it on shirts. If you were only diagnosed a year a go, you probably spent a long time trying to figure out what was wrong with you. Having a doctor that you really trust seems to help a lot.

Having a good support group has meant lot to me. They are the only people who can really understand what I go through. I hope things go well for you.

Depression in Lupus patients,is usually a given, not only because you are dealing with a Chronic Illness, but also and very important with Lupus, has to do with the Sun or lack thereof, The Sun causes a production/release of a chemical in our brains called serotonin, which is the chemical that makes us happy, so to speak, And most people with Lupus cannot tolerate the Sun, as it causes us to Flare! And in avoiding the sun, we also are not able to produce/release this chemical, and are put on reuptake inhibitors, meaning they manually make the brain produce/release this chemical. Prozac, Wellbutrin, and Zoloft are these kinds of meds, and I've seen a lot of folks trying Cymbalta. I know this is a hard thing to accept, in life! but hang in there, nobody knows what tomorrow will bring! A big Hug! Tish
